An Elevated Healthcare Experience

Marshall El Dorado Hills is now open with more space, more services, more convenience

In Town Center West, Marshall has opened its new 25,000-square-foot medical facility aimed at getting EDH residents back on their feet as soon as possible. We caught up with Marshall president and CEO Siri Nelson to learn more about the new space and all it means for the community. “We’re here to help everyone write their comeback story!” she says.

Tell us about the new building.

Specifically designed to support this community’s active lifestyle, Marshall El Dorado Hills is a state-of-the-art medical facility with 29 examination rooms, three procedure rooms, diagnostic imaging and lab, as well as an expansive physical therapy and rehabilitation space. Making key services available in one convenient location means residents won’t need to travel to receive the care they need to get back to living life to its fullest.

Why El Dorado Hills?

El Dorado Hills and its surrounding areas are growing rapidly. Residents are drawn to the natural environment so whether a student athlete, runner, hiker, walker, swimmer, or pickleball player, everyone’s body is subject to wear and tear. Marshall wants to make sure our patients are able to manage, treat, and overcome any obstacles they encounter. For active individuals, those obstacles often include musculoskeletal and heart-related issues.

What specific services are offered at the new facility, and how do they meet the needs of our community?

Marshall El Dorado Hills features orthopedics and sports medicine (with El Dorado County’s only walk-in services for immediate care), family medicine (with same-day appointments available), physical therapy, cardiology, podiatry, and on-site diagnostic imaging and lab draw capabilities. These services were determined in consultation with our EDH Advisory Committee, a group of area residents and leaders who provided input on the specific needs of this community. Walk-in and same-day services typically result in lower costs to patients rather than traveling to an emergency room. As a benefit to the larger community, it will also help reduce wait times in the emergency room by having these patients seen elsewhere when appropriate.

What makes this facility state of the art?

The new facility was completely redesigned and reimagined, placing the patient experience first. Clinic spaces “flex,” meaning that if on any given day orthopedic visits are higher, while cardiology appointments are fewer, providers can seamlessly adjust, expanding or reducing their clinic space as needed. On-site diagnostic imaging features GE’s Definium™ XR/f, allowing for a variety of head-to-toe, dose-efficient exams on patients of all sizes, ages, and degrees of mobility. Also, the Marshall Foundation for Community Health has raised funds to equip our physical therapy area with the only specialized 3D ZeroG system west of Salt Lake City. 3D ZeroG is an advanced robotic body-weight support system that safely allows walking, movement, balance, and fall prevention training in a reduced-gravity environment. This effort has been made possible by the generosity of Robert and Star Pepper.

Will this facility include urgent care or extended hours?

Walk-in and same-day care will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Lab draw services will open at 6 a.m. to allow patients to complete their labs and get on with their day.

How will Marshall engage with the community?

We sponsor and participate in more than 150 community-based events each year. At last year’s Gold Country Run in Town Center, for example, members of Marshall’s cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine, podiatry, diabetes and nutrition education, and population health programs were on hand to present a community health fair. Plans are already underway for this year’s event, as well as October’s Folsom Family Expo. Marshall is a sponsor of the local farmer’s market, Thursday Live on the Boulevard concerts, the Fireworks and Freedom event, and others. Frequently members of our clinical teams are present to educate the community on their health and our services. We proudly sponsor and support local youth sports teams to help foster the health and well-being of our region’s young athletes.

Anything else our readers should know?

Marshall’s independence enables us to quickly and effectively assess and respond to the needs of our community in a way that simply isn’t possible elsewhere. We identified a need within El Dorado Hills’ growing community to fully support its active lifestyle and were able to nimbly address it with this new facility and the programs housed here. That’s our difference—and our strength!
