As parent of three young children, Jessica Schmollinger assures she understands the importance of safe, exceptional educational opportunities. As franchise owner of Primrose School of Greenwood at 5164 N. State Road 135 since 2023, Jessica says she extends that same level of care and support to children of other families.
"As an education professional, I've been familiar with Primrose Schools for many years. However, the importance of exceptional early learning experiences didn't come to the forefront until my husband and I began to grow our family," she says. "We value immersing our children in culture, community, character and educational experiences."
Jessica says the Primrose Schools' approach allows children to truly strengthen developmental skills. "'Who children become is as important as what they know' is a core belief within our school's Balanced Learning approach. We stand out with the children being engulfed in life skills, PE, math, science and Spanish, even student-led learning."
She says the school's exclusive early learning approach balances purposeful play with nurturing teachers' guidance to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.
"We deliver more than a curriculum; it’s a life-changing early learning experience for children," she adds.
Early childhood education is a proven passion for Jessica. She says she's always wanted to teach and serve children. After receiving an education degree at Indiana University, she relocated to Sydney, Australia, where she taught students ages 6-8. Upon returning to Greenwood, she taught several years of K-2 instruction. Prior to establishing a Primrose School, she worked as an education consultant to train educators to use educational technology.
Primrose Schools is a national system of accredited private preschools. Jessica says the Primrose Friends initiative is very popular, comprised of 12 classroom puppets fostering positive character traits: friendship, respect, cooperation, generosity, fairness, promises, caring, honesty, conservation, courage, citizenship and responsibility.
Jessica says familial connections are paramount, so they host Parents Nights Out and events to incorporate families to celebrate various cultures.
"We teach kids how to help others through activities and raising funds for child-driven charities," she says.
Additionally, the teaching staff can earn continuing education credits and associate degrees, turning vital roles into what Jessica hopes they make careers at this Primrose School.
