Gallatin is known for its welcoming small-town charm, strong sense of community and commitment to taking care of each other. Neighbors, family and friends want the best for those they know and care about. It’s no surprise then, that Dr. Whitney Buck, the newest women’s health provider at Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas, feels right at home here. With a lifelong passion for medicine and a deep dedication to women’s health, Dr. Buck is more than just a physician—she’s a caregiver, an advocate and a friend to the women of our community.

For Dr. Buck, medicine wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling. From a young age, she was fascinated by medicine, carrying around a copy of Gray’s Anatomy as a child. Initially drawn to general surgery, she quickly realized that obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) was where she truly belonged. Her first clinical rotation in OBGYN as a medical student solidified her path. “I was the first student to show up and the last to leave, because I just loved it so much,” she recalls.

Dr. Buck’s journey took her from Ross University School of Medicine to clinical training in Detroit, followed by a residency in OBGYN at Ascension Providence in Michigan. Throughout her training, she was shaped by the mentorship of outstanding colleagues and teachers who taught her to care for patients beyond the textbook, treating them as if they were family. This philosophy continues to guide her approach to patient care today.

After completing her training, Dr. Buck sought a place where she could build long-term relationships with her patients and truly become part of a community. She found that in Gallatin. She describes it as having the warmth of a small town where neighbors look out for one another, making it the perfect place to put down roots.

Since moving to Gallatin, she and her husband have immersed themselves in some of the cherished local traditions, from attending the Gallatin Christmas Market in the Square to enjoying the Main Street Festival. From the start, she felt she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Dr. Buck believes that women’s health is deeply personal and unique to each individual. She prides herself on providing compassionate, personalized care that meets each patient where they are. Her philosophy is built on the foundation that every woman’s healthcare journey is different, and trust between doctor and patient is key to ensuring the best possible care.

She is especially passionate about advocating for women at every stage of life—from adolescence to pregnancy, through menopause and beyond. Educating patients and helping them make informed decisions about their health is a top priority. And of course, delivering babies remains one of the most incredible aspects of her job.

Outside of her work, Dr. Buck leads a full and exciting life. She and her husband love spending time outdoors, traveling and enjoying cozy movie nights at home. Their home is filled with love, including four furry companions: two lab mixes, Olive and Penny, and two golden retrievers, Knox and Mac.

Excitingly, Dr. Buck and her husband are preparing for a new adventure—parenthood! They are adopting their first child this May and couldn’t be more thrilled to step into this new chapter of their lives.

Dr. Buck’s goal is simple: to provide exceptional care while creating meaningful relationships with her patients. She wants to be known as a provider who truly cares and goes above and beyond. She’s also excited about the future of women’s healthcare, particularly advancements in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Her message to the women of Gallatin is clear: preventative health matters. Every woman should see their OBGYN at least once a year because prioritizing health today leads to a stronger, healthier future. With her warmth, passion and expertise, Dr. Buck is already making a lasting impact on Gallatin. Our community is lucky to have her, and she’s equally grateful to be here. This isn’t just a job—it’s her purpose.

So, whether you’re in need of a trusted OBGYN or just want to welcome a new neighbor, be sure to say hello to Dr. Buck. She’s here to care, support and most importantly—connect with the incredible women of Gallatin.
