When the Rotary Club of Madison West Middleton asked itself, “Where do we want to be in five years?” a clear plan of priorities and strategies emerged. One of their priorities was to be visible, to show up in meaningful ways, to serve and support the needs of the local community. From that goal, Rotary Works – Today! began to take root and grow into a tangible outreach event.
In a time when challenges seem overwhelming, this event offers a refreshing and hopeful alternative. Rotary Works – Today! presents a full day of engaging programs, volunteer opportunities, and community-building activities designed to enrich lives. It brings Rotary’s mission to life with a shared commitment to Unite for Good. On September 27, dozens of local organizations and businesses will come together for an entire day of meaningful impact. Events will take place at several locations, including the Middleton Public Library, Terrace Avenue Pavilions (TAP), Stone Horse Green, Lussier Community Education Center, and the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness.
Programming includes storytimes with guest readers, educational sessions on pollination, bees and butterflies, energy initiatives and sustainability practices. There will be free blood pressure screenings, food and diaper drives, resume-building workshops, and neighborhood discussions on community resilience. Peace Poles and live music will create an uplifting atmosphere for neighborly connection.
In support of Rotary’s global mission to eradicate polio, participating bars and restaurants donate a portion of drink proceeds to the End Polio Now Campaign, an effort that remains a top priority globally.
It provides the opportunity to use our shared spaces to strengthen our community, develop relationships with our neighbors, and move closer to the enriched and connected community we all desire.
