Frosty Drive N

The story of Frosty Drive N and the family behind it.

Known for their delicious burgers and famous home-made root beer float, Frosty Drive N proved to be much more than your average restaurant. I was given the opportunity to sit down and speak with Patrick Webb, owner of Frosty Drive N. Frosty Drive N was originally opened in 1954 and was re-established in 1964 in Denton, Texas. The restaurant was started by Patrick's grandfather and grandmother, Jack and Judy Webb, and was passed down to Patrick's father, Randy Webb. After many years of successfully owning Frosty’s, Randy has since given Patrick the honor of taking over. Although Frosty’s began as a drive in only establishment, it has since evolved into a reliable place the community can sit and enjoy themselves.

Patrick has been working at his family's restaurant since he was about 6 years old. One of his earliest memories at Frosty’s was filling an ice bucket to help out, and he recalls not being able to lift the bucket to bring back up to the front. At 9 years old, he was given the promotion of a lifetime, and he began car hopping! Patrick recalls a time when he was younger where an adult made a comment about “flipping burgers for the rest of his life” while he was in school. Patrick was able to laugh off the comment made, as he was very happy about the life he was creating for him and his family, and he continued working with his family and growing the restaurant.

With many years of experience, Frosty Drive N runs like a well oiled machine. With Patrick's father seamlessly running the back of the restaurant, Patrick has taken over working the front where he is able to interact with all of their guests who stop by for a bite to eat. Patrick enjoys getting to speak with the guests who come in and get to know his possible new regulars. One of his favorite things about working in this restaurant, aside from being with his family, is the customers! Since Frosty’s has been around for many years, the family has been given the pleasure of having generations of families as regulars throughout the years. Even while I was there visiting, a man came in to grab a root beer float and said he has been coming to Frosty’s since he was a child.

What stands out about Frosty Drive N is the immense amount of nostalgia that hits you walking through the doors. Frosty’s is a gem that has held the test of time with its old style diner look and feel. In this world of fast paced lunches and always being on the go, Frosty’s compels you to slow down and really enjoy yourself. If you are in a rush however, don't worry, they’ve got you covered for your quick lunch breaks! Patrick says it best, “We aren’t in a hurry around here, but we are fast!”

Frosty Drive N has been a staple for many community members for years. From putting on car shows to serving amazing food with awesome service, the passion the family has for their long standing restaurant really shines through. If you haven’t visited Frosty’s yet, I implore you to stop by when you get the chance. Frosty Drive N is located at 1002 Fort Worth Dr, Denton, TX 76205, and is sure to have you leaving full and smiling!

“...Frosty’s is more of an experience rather than just a food place.”
