The Fox Theatre says "Hello, Gorgeous!" to Funny Girl

Broadway hit brings laughter, music, and nostalgia to Atlanta

The energy was electric as the Fox Theatre filled with people of all ages for the opening night of Funny Girl. The three-hour-long show captivated the audience with outstanding vocals, abundant tap dancing, interactions with the crowd (cheering is strongly encouraged), and iconic numbers like the classic "Don't Rain On My Parade."

Funny Girl shares the story of a young woman named Fanny Brice who is determined to gain fame in New York City. Her character is "uniquely individual" compared to the rest of the cast as she cracks jokes for the crowd and dances clumsily. When Fanny meets Nicky Arnstein, her life begins to take a turn in more ways than one.

Don't forget about dinner before the show! There are many restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the Fox Theatre. Ecco provides a "theatre menu" that offers quick bites and classic cocktails for before the show. The Publik Draft House, located immediately next to the Fox Theatre, serves American food along with an expansive bar menu.

If you can't make it to Funny Girl, there's always another show coming up at the Fox. Coca-Cola is hosting their Summer Film Festival at the end of August, showing movie classics like West Side Story and Casablanca. The next Broadway in Atlanta musical making its stop at the Fox Theatre will be The Lion King, running October 2-20, 2024.
