Step into the vibrant and well-known music scene in Gallatin and chances are you’ll soon realize how important music and musicians are to our area. While many Nashville artists love using Gallatin’s musical charm and picturesque downtown square as backdrops to many recent music videos and performances (Brett Eldredge, Mickey Guyton, Kane Brown and Parmalee, just to name a few), some of the best local, up-and-coming artists call Gallatin home, too.

One of those local and talented artists happens to be 15-year-old Lucas Collier, who is making big waves in our area with his music. With his soulful voice and remarkable guitar skills, Lucas has become a shining star, captivating audiences with his heartfelt per- formances and original compositions. Beyond his musical abilities, Lucas possesses a genuine spirit and unwavering passion for his craft, pouring his heart and soul into every note he plays. Lucas also serves as an inspiration to other aspiring local musicians, often of the younger generation, showcasing the transfor- mative power of following his own dream to relent- lessly pursue artistic excellence. As the Nashville area around us starts to take notice of our local Gallatin rising star, we were fortunate enough to catch up with Lucas to allow him to share with us some of the things he’s most proud of and what he’s preparing for in the future with his budding music career.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND IN MUSIC?

I started taking piano lessons when I was six years old and it really came natural for me and I was having fun at the same time. I kept going with playing the piano and somewhere along the way, I started singing and the more I sang, the more I liked it.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW MUSIC WAS YOUR PASSION?

A friend of mine landed a set at a legendary Nashville venue called 3rd & Lindsley. He loved an original song of mine so he asked me if I would be willing to come up during his set and play the song with him. A couple of days before the show we rehearsed together and when the time came, the room went absolutely wild! It was a surreal and defining moment for me when I realized how important pursuing music was to me. I’m all in on it now

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A MUSICIAN?

For me, out of all the different aspects of music, it’s sharing that moment with other people. So much about music is this thing that connects people and it’s always fun to be on stage and perform in a way that connects people together, even if it’s only for a song or two.

WHO ARE YOUR MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS?

I’ve always been in love with the music of Ray Charles, Tyler Childers, Elvis and Waylon Jennings.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR KIDS WHO ARE LOOKING TO GET INTO MUSIC?

Don’t wait if you want to do music and start putting yourself out there. Have fun and make sure to prac- tice a lot! Just send it and practice!

MUSIC ASIDE, WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING?

I’m really in one of three places: in the gym, out catching fish or making music!

Lucas continues to be on the rise and we are excited to see where his musical journey will take him. Representing Gallatin in some very creative ways, and falling in line with some of the biggest musical talent in and around Nashville, we know Lucas will make Gallatin proud. To keep up with Lucas and to see what he’s working on, where he’s playing and to be a part of his music, you can catch him on his social media channels, website and anywhere else you listen to music!
