Jennifer Sweat plays to win.
Whether she’s stepping onto a tennis court or navigating a competitive real estate market, she approaches both with the same intensity. “I’m competitive,” Jenn says. “I like a challenge. And I believe in myself to the extent that I’m willing to go for it 100% and be willing to fail if I fail.” To her, failure is simply a challenge to regroup and look at things from a different angle.
Sports have always been a huge part of Jenn’s life. She grew up playing all kinds and never really stopped. Now, she plays tennis year-round and competes at a national level.
Through the United States Tennis Association, Jenn has made it to national championships three times with her teams, and in 2022, one of her teams placed fourth in the country in their division. And she’s not slowing down. Jenn says this year, it’s one of her goals to go back to the national championships.
And that competitive drive doesn’t turn off when she leaves the court. It carries straight into her day-to-day work. Jenn has been in real estate for 10 years now. Initially, she intended for real estate to be a side gig.
“I felt like I would love having that flexibility in my schedule and determining my own paycheck,” she says. Then, as she was studying to get her real estate license when she was unexpectedly laid off from her sales job.
“The door was wide open, so I just jumped through it,” Jenn says. “I was driven, I was hungry, and ready to just take it on, full steam ahead.” She remembers making a clear decision at that moment: “All right, if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it 100%. Let’s go.”
While she acknowledges the challenges of the real estate market, such as shifting interest rates and buyers sitting on fences because of the economy, Jenn believes the “tough will survive.” So, she’s still here, “rocking and rolling,” and showing up for her clients, and her kids.
One of the things that drew Jenn to real estate was the flexibility. She’s a single mom, and when she started out, she needed to balance raising her kids while working full-time. Because working in real estate is so flexible, it wasn’t a problem. “If I knew something was coming up with my kids, I could schedule stuff around that,” Jenn says.
Although 2025 ended up being her lowest production year in a decade, Jenn describes it as life-changing. The slower pace allowed her to refocus, invest more time in tennis, and reset mentally for the next chapter.
That next chapter includes a new opportunity: appearing on the Real Estate Essentials Show on ABC4, where she’ll present up-and-coming home listings. “It’s put some plasma back into my real estate blood,” Jenn says.
She’s deeply invested in her clients’ happiness, which is why she’s so excited about hosting the show. Filmed in a studio at her brokerage, the Real Estate Essentials Show helps Jenn give her clients’ homes maximum exposure.
Whatever else is part of her next chapter, Jenn’s not done testing her limits. This month, she turns 55, and she feels that this will be her golden year, her best year ever in real estate.
“I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface in my potential as a real estate agent,” she says. “I want to triple what I did this past year, and I know that if I really put the effort in, I’ll be unstoppable.”
