Justin Hiller Brings Healthy Choices to West Bloomfield

The new year is here, and thoughts of improving your diet and getting into shape once again come into view. The effort, however, can feel daunting! Justin Hiller, former VP of Hiller’s Markets and previous Stewardship Administrator of Gleaner’s Community Food Bank, has something that can help. His fast-casual restaurant combines the Saladworks and Frutta Bowls franchises in one convenient location. Located at the Crosswinds Center in West Bloomfield, Justin offers a variety of quick, delicious options. “I’m excited to be able to offer fresh, healthy food to this community again,” says Justin. “The food service industry has played an integral role in my life and I have a passion for the retail food space.”

Whether you are vegetarian or vegan, or prefer a Whole 30, Paleo, or Keto diet, Saladworks has developed menu items to suit your fancy. Saladworks offers a selection of 12 chef-created signature salads, or guests can build their own using a base of green, grains, or both. A choice of 65+ fresh, flavorful ingredients allows for nearly unlimited customization. “Our ‘build your own’ salads are the most popular by far,” says Justin. “There are so many amazing options to choose from.” Salads can also be made into a wrap, if desired. Beyond salads, Saladworks offers a line of signature sandwiches, panini melts, soups, and a kid’s menu.

The Frutta Bowls menu offers similar customization. Packed with vitamin-rich superfoods that are high in antioxidants, Frutta Bowls start with a base such as Greek yogurt or acai, and add granola, various fruit options, and toppings such as almond butter or chia seeds. Like Saladworks, Frutta Bowls also offers a selection of signature bowls. Rounding out the menu are protein bites and smoothies. “It’s a healthy superfood smoothie base,” notes Justin. “I like what it brings to breakfast, lunch, a snack, or a meal replacement.”

Justin’s passion for a healthy lifestyle extends to his own life as well. Justin is an avid cyclist and runner, and he and his wife, Laurie Hughet-Hiller, “love to take our kids on family runs in the double stroller.” After opening the first co-branded Saladworks and Frutta Bowls in the nation, Justin hopes to build on what he has started by opening additional locations across Michigan. “As someone who is committed to eating healthy and living an active lifestyle, the opportunity to offer the community two health-conscious dining options is extremely exciting and humbling.”
