For the past 13 years, the staff and management of The St. Charles Convention Center has been bringing holiday joy and making a difference for Charles County families in-need through its Helping Hands for the Holidays program.
Thanks to their program, and the generosity and help from the community, Helping Hands for the Holidays has brought this wonderful experience and helpful resource to over 14,000 people since its inception in 2007.
Held at The Saint Charles Convention Center, this annual free event being held this year on December 15th, assists in-need members of the community by providing a warm meal, health care services and screenings, winter clothing and personal care items, activities for families, community resources and more.
This year, over 1600 holiday meals will be served by staff and volunteers, and 2400 coats & winter accessories, as well as 500+ personal care bags will be distributed. Community partners and exhibitors also play a huge role in the event’s success, helping to provide flu shots, haircuts, free books for all ages, photos with Santa and fun holiday crafts.
There are even resources for employment needs at the event.
Donations of the following items are being accepted through December 5 for distribution at the event: coats, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, (new) underwear, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, deodorant and feminine hygiene products.
Drop-off locations include St. Charles Convention Center, St. Charles City Hall, St. Charles Police Dept. on Zumbehl Rd., St. Charles Fire Station #4 on Boschertown Rd. and Spencer Road Library Community Commons (upper parking lot) during library hours.
You can also volunteer or become an exhibitor by filling out the form at HelpingHandsStCharles.com by December 11.
