Tim Gilliam, the owner, holds his upbringing and the values his parents instilled in him close to his heart. His father’s impressive skills as a master engineer and craftsman began at 12 years old when he built a stagecoach, though that was just the beginning. Tim’s father went on to build a home in Carmel long before the city became known for its roundabouts and welcoming atmosphere.
“I learned a lot from him. He was very kind, so I tried to repeat a lot of his kindness with people, expertise, and attention to detail.” Tim explained.
The Gilliam family’s commitment to kindness led Tim to establish Thomas Jefferson Roofing & Remodeling, which upholds the value of respecting individuals from all walks of life. The company’s mission is to “create fun as we appreciate family as our team and those seeking our excellent service!”

Tim’s staff finds joy in serving others, so Thomas Jefferson Roofing & Remodeling gave back to the community by working directly with Habitat for Humanity. Habitat built two homes, and the skilled remodelers installed a new roof for each at no cost. The project took one humid 90-degree day, but the result was worth it.
Serving others was always inevitable for Tim. “I always thought it would be neat if those of us in our company who are interested in helping out other people could jump in on projects,” Tim said. “We were glad to help out. We don’t do a lot of new construction, so it was an interesting experience for us to go and do that.”
According to Tim, most of the company’s roofing projects involve repairing or replacing old roof systems, so their joint effort with Habitat for Humanity was a fun and straightforward way to aid projects.
