Glowing Expectations for the New Year

Take On The New Day With Aislyn Dermatology

An avid athlete her whole life, Dr. Aislyn Nelson has a passion for dermatology and skin care. Coming from San Diego, one of her focuses is educating about protecting our skin from the sun. Recently opening her brand new practice in Colorado has only enhanced this awareness.

“We really like to be involved in community events… we are a part of several chambers. So we just want people to know who we are and see us as a community physician where people know us and they say hi, and we know their name and their kids’ names,” Dr. Aislyn shares.

Aislyn and her office manager/esthetician, Brooke Wood, take their time with each patient. Rather than rush through appointments, they make sure to answer every single question in depth. Open for same day appointments, they are a direct pay practice with no hidden fees. Their ultimate goal is to be available for patient’s needs when they need it.

“Probably by age forty every person should see a dermatologist once a year and that’s just because one in five Americans are going to get a skin cancer by age seventy. So it can happen at any time,” Dr. Aislyn says.

Aislyn Dermatology provides cosmetic services as well as treatment for skin cancer, hair loss, sun protection, acne treatments, dry skin, mole evaluations and more. They want to be available to anyone in any season of life.

“Time is not static. We’re always changing. We’re always maturing… A lot of times new beginnings can bring on new challenges. I think making sure that you aren’t scared to address them… taking on the new day and not being scared to talk about it [makes the difference],” Dr. Aislyn says. She talks about how in every season of life, we will face new challenges, our skin is no exception.

Brooke also shares her passion for skin care, “As an esthetician, I’ve done it for the last sixteen years.. Just helping people overall have a good skincare routine, getting them that glow that they want… Making people feel good and confident about themselves. That’s what I like.”

Having run track and played golf as well as basketball, Dr. Aislyn also has a passion for athletes.

She says, “Based on my experience I feel there is a real need for sun education and skincare in the athletic world… the focus is always on your sport… but no one discusses the fact you are being constantly bombarded with… UV radiation… Also sweat, dirt, tight uniforms, chlorine - these all take a huge toll on the skin and cause acne, dryness, etc. Athletes need to be educated on how to manage this. In my perfect world, I would work with the NCAA to educate their athletes and I would absolutely love to be the dermatologist for the NFL, PGA and ATP. Until that happens, we are trying to donate sunscreen to outdoor athletic events and if they allow us - be present for the events to help educate the athletes as well.”
