Our calendars are overflowing with engaging itineraries and festive outings once again. In response, we worked with Memphis’ most distinctive, fashion-forward boutiques and jewelry experts to present a collection of clothing and accessories that combats a current dilemma we all share – post-lockdown, lackluster wardrobes.

In our first proper fall since the pandemic, fashion feels fun again. For ball games and galas, lunch dates and date nights or impromptu gatherings with friends, this fall is the season to break out of any residual fashion funk lingering after the stay-at-home years and get dressed! Lockdowns whittled away at the relevance of self-expression in our wardrobes as panache and personality gave way to an overabundance of generic athleisure. It is time to shelve the sweats and make a statement. Everyone has places to go again, and local retailers are bringing creative solutions to your closet this September.

Playing with proportion, the best looks for the season are pretty and polished. Heading into the cooler temperatures, embrace new lengths, intense color and statement-making accessories for your parties and pastimes. Hemlines are long and sexy. Jackets are voluminous and textured. Gowns are sexy as ever, and a cowboy boot is always a good idea.

After a long couple of years sequestered, going out never felt so good. Elevate your look with stacks of costume, fine, antique and estate jewelry. And don’t forget your fragrance, says Chantal Johnson, owner of 20twelve, “it’s your final accessory.”

The highly anticipated new Restaurant Iris—opening in Laurelwood later this month—is the perfect setting for these fresh new looks. Designed by Ann Parker of Parker Design Group, the restaurant's elevated but playful interior with flattering ambiance and lighting hits exactly the right notes for a new season.

There is no right or wrong, only, we suspect, a need to redirect your sense of style with event- and party-ready looks as a priority. Our attire and the way we put ourselves together speak volumes. Visit the boutiques featured within our pages to ensure your fall attire conveys the energy and enthusiasm of your fall calendar.

Special thanks to our partners 20Twelve, Kittie Kyle, Jeweler's Choice, Danes Road Antiques by Nikki McVean, Shelby Jewel, Indigo and G. Brady, styling consultant Meggy Muller, makeup artist Kendrick Simpson, editor Lindsey Tonkin, publication director Jeannie Tabor, and Chef Kelly English for all of their extra effort to make this happen.
