Time Out!

In this season of giving, it is important to take a little time to reset

For many of us, December is a time of hustle, bustle, shopping, and parties. It can be a season of celebration mixed with exhaustion.  So, here are some ways to slow down and take a few moments to honor yourself.

Culinary Classes

The act of preparing a meal and sharing it with others brings a sense of connection and fulfillment.  Level up your entertaining and presentation skills and be prepared for your next social gathering by taking a culinary class from Fork It Foods.

Mind & Body Healing

During times of stress, our energy becomes depleted.  Indulge in an energy balancing session, such as those offered at Enlightened Balance, to help you replenish, resolve, release and move forward in a joyous way.

Read a Book

Grab a blanket, curl up in your favorite chair and get lost in a memoir or novel.  Or maybe a puzzle around the fire.  The Green Read, staffed entirely by volunteers, stocks a variety of new and used items for affordable indulgence. Proceeds support The Environmental Defenders.

Massage

Enjoy a relaxing Himalayan Hot Salt Massage at Healing Arts Boutique.  The warm rocks will help to calm, soothe, and leave you feeling ready to take on the hectic season.  A custom facial is another great way to refresh and add vibrancy.

Paint Pottery

Whether with a group of friends, your kids or by yourself, painting pottery is an opportunity to relax and also create a keepsake piece of art.  Join a sip and paint night at Color Me Mine where there are hundreds of pottery options to choose from.

Exercise

Get outside and take a brisk walk, go for a run, or hike. The fresh air, change of scenery and repetitive motion is known to have a calming effect on the nervous system.  And if you need gear, stop by The Running Depot where the friendly and knowledgeable staff with dress you from head to toe.

Art Classes

Step out of the cold and into a cozy art studio located in the picturesque back lawn of the historic Dole Mansion.  Creative Arts Studio is suited for all ages, abilities and disciplines. So, when your mind is running with all the holiday "to-dos," take a break and embrace your creative side. Whether making stained glass, sketching, painting with oils or pastels, or one of the many other options, you can find your quiet here.

Yoga

Whether a gentle flow class or a more invigorating power class, yoga is a great way to step away from the busyness, close your eyes, stretch, and just breathe.  Studios such as Sweet Feet Yoga, Lakewood, have drop-in and punch card options available for your convenience.  Nurturing ourselves recharges us to be able to care for others.
