Grit Check

Style is just the start at Dress for Success

At first glance, it looks like any chic little boutique—heels in neat pairs, accessories catching the light. But look at little closer, and you'll find that behind every blazer and belt at Dress for Success Palm Beaches is a story of grit, reinvention, and a woman preparing not just for a job interview, but for her next chapter.

Since 2010, this nonprofit has helped more than 5,000 women in our region suit up and step forward. They offer more than just head‑to‑toe styling—they provide interview prep, career coaching, and something far less tangible but infinitely more valuable: confidence. Here, style isn’t surface. It’s strategy.

The journey often begins with a referral from one of over 100 local partner agencies. A woman walks in—sometimes nervous, sometimes skeptical. She’s met by a personal stylist who guides her through the racks, helping her find pieces that fit both her frame and her future. Then comes a coaching session with a career pro who reviews résumés and interview skills—but also gently convinces her she belongs in the room.

If that first interview doesn’t lead to a job, the support continues. The Road to Success program offers six weeks of confidence-building sessions and career tools, and mentorship. For on-the-go learning, Keys to Success provides quick video lessons on everything from image to finances.

Once she’s employed, she comes back. This time for a full week’s wardrobe—and an invitation to join the Professional Women’s Group, a warm, ambitious sisterhood of Dress for Success alumni navigating everything from asking for raises to claiming space. It’s not just about staying employed—it’s about building a career, and a community.

“Most significant is our success rate, with 65 percent of the women we serve finding employment,” said CEO Jo Ann Fletcher in a March 2025 interview with WFLX. That number isn’t just a metric—it’s momentum.

Now, all of this is unfolding in a fresh, thoughtfully designed new space in Greenacres, which officially opened in late July. Replacing the longtime Palm Springs location, the new boutique offers more room for suiting, more access to programs, and more opportunities for women to walk in unsure—and walk out transformed.

Because while yes, the clothes matter—this is Palm Beach, after all—but what really matters is how a woman feels when she sees herself, polished and prepared, in the mirror. She’s not playing dress‑up. She’s stepping into the life she’s been working for all along.
