The Dream:

Sisters Steph Sipres and Wendy Ramirez began with a dream and a love for flowers – the combination was enough to make their dream a reality. Sipres worked as a designer at a local flower shop and treasured the time spent amongst the beauty and delicacy of the plants. After over 20 years in the business, Sipres was ready to move on and take the next step in her design career. So with Sipres’ eye for design and Ramirez’s love for plants, the sisters decided to open a shop of their own.

The Process:

Before they could open their business, finding the perfect location was their top priority. After searching for several months, Sipres’ husband stumbled upon what would become Thyme & Seasons Flower & Gift Market while looking for a location to store his boat. The space had superb potential with large atrium doors bringing in an abundance of light, high ceilings, and an open floor plan. Sipres and Ramirez, along with the help of their family, worked tirelessly to ultimately construct, remodel, and design the space. By February 2022, it was opening day, and the sisters were eager to serve Greeley just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Outcome:

The open layout with neutral colors and lots of light makes the shop look large yet welcoming. The variety of plants and flowers create pops of color that bring life throughout the store.  The two hope to share their passion for flowers with others by hosting classes this spring and summer on wreath making or centerpiece creations.  “I want to spread beauty,” Sipres said. For now, guests can come to visit the female-owned shop for all their plant, flower, and gift needs. Whether you need an arrangement delivered to a loved one or full-scale wedding floral design, we guarantee that Sipres and Ramirez will greet you with a smile.

Supplies:

  • Pot or vase

  • Wet foam

  • Tape

  • Floral shears

  • 2-3 types of greenery

  • 3-4 types of flowers

  • Succulents or faux succulents

Step 1: Pick out a vase or pot of your choice. Chop wet foam into approximately 1x1 pieces, fill the pot to the top, and pour a small amount of water onto the foam. This helps beginners hold their stems in place while creating the arrangement.

Step 2: Choose several types of greenery for the piece and strip the stems to avoid bacteria growth. Create a substantial greenery base before adding your flowers.

Step 3: Choose a theme for the arrangement, such as bright, moody, or pastel. Select larger flowers, measure and cut the stems to fit the pot. Peel away dead petals as you place the flowers throughout.

Step 4: Continue to add your assortment of flowers into the piece and turn to avoid blank spaces. Small flowers can be used to fill any negative space and add pops of color. Lastly, succulents can be placed into the piece to add texture.
