Harvest Houston's Bounty

Eat locally harvested produce and help the community at the same time at Houston's Hope Farms.

Eat local in 2021at Houston’s Hope Farms. The project of Recipe for Success Foundation on seven-acres just minutes from downtown, grows affordable, fresh produce for Houstonians. Saturdays, you can visit the on-site Farms Store (presently operated as a drive through market) for seasonal, just-harvested produce. Chances are you will find Founder, Gracie Cavnar or Tyler Froberg, Farm Manager also sharing their latest harvest and gardening tips.

Can’t make it to the farm? Then swing by a weekly Rolling Green Market pop between noon and 2:00—Thursdays at Berings on Westheimer and Fridays at Tootsies in Upper Kirby. Or become a Farm Share subscriber and get weekly bags of fresh, organic just-harvested produce delivered directly to your home or office. By shopping Hope Farms’ produce you are choosing local, sustainable produce, and contributing to Recipe for Success Foundation to help the non-profit continue to serve as a critical Houston resource.

Founded in 2005, Recipe for Success Foundation works to combat childhood obesity by changing the way children understand, appreciate and eat their food and to educate and mobilize the community to provide them with healthier diets. Long-known for its school-based nutrition education, the Foundation has pivoted to virtual programming with EatItfoodadventures.org online learning platform for children and their families, featuring cooking and gardening classes and more. Their VegOutwithrfs.org website and mobile app have gamified healthy eating for thousands. Recipe for Success Foundation principally rely on donations, special events and grants to continue operations. Especially critical in these uncertain times, produce purchases supplement dwindling philanthropic gifts and cancelled fundraisers.
