Can you describe Reiki for animals?
Reiki can be translated as “spiritual energy.” It is an ancient form of healing practiced by numerous practitioners around the world on both humans, as well as animals. As a Reiki Master, I am the conduit for which the energy flows through and then is received by the animals I work on.
How is it performed?
Physical contact is not a requirement for Reiki, and traditionally the practitioner offers Reiki to the animal hands off. This way, the animal controls the treatment, either accepting Reiki from a distance, or settling themselves against the practitioner’s hands. Very small animals can be cupped in your hands. Larger animals such as cats, dogs, and horses normally prefer you to begin by placing your hands behind their ears and working around the body. For a specific injury, I place my hands directly over the injury.
What can it help? Reiki can help speed up an animal’s healing process after surgery or illness. Many physical and emotional issues can also be addressed, as well as bad habits. Each session is customized.
What differences can a pet owner expect to see on their animal after? [When I’m] working on a specific area of disease or discomfort, I will place my hands directly on the specific area. When the energetic congestion has been cleared, an animal will very often give out a great sigh, showing that the energetic congestion has been dissolved. After a Reiki session, animals are much more contented and relaxed, and you can immediately sense a peaceful, calm feeling from them.
