At just 16, Anna Ramirez felt lost—until a literal sign sparked her path. Passing a construction site, she prayed for guidance, asking God for a “large flashing sign.” Moments later, a billboard lit up: “Call Good Samaritans Boys Ranch Today!” That call led her to discover equine therapy, and years later, to found HHH Ranch in Manhattan, Illinois.
Short for Hands, Hooves & Hope, HHH Ranch is a sanctuary where rescued animals help children, families, and adults heal emotionally, physically, and mentally. “We welcome everyone,” says Anna, “no matter where they are in life.”
The ranch offers programs like horseback riding, Stable Moments mentorship for foster and adopted youth, and even an Itsy Bitsy Farmers class for children as young as six weeks. Many kids build deep, life-changing bonds with animals—like Adinah, who found hope in a horse named Chief after struggling post-COVID.
The animals, all rescues, teach empathy, responsibility, and emotional regulation. “We’re not just helping kids ride,” Anna explains. “We’re helping them grow.”
As the need grows, HHH is launching a capital campaign to expand to a larger facility. With strong community support and a donor willing to match the first $200,000, Anna’s vision is galloping toward a brighter future.
