Healing Together

How Riverstone Mental Health Collective is Reimagining Connection, Therapy, and Community in Northern Westchester

In a world that often praises independence and self-reliance, William Henry, LCSW and founder of Riverstone Mental Health Collective, believes in something different: the healing power of human connection. With decades of experience in the field, his passion for helping people feel seen, supported, and understood has blossomed into a growing practice that is changing the mental health landscape in Northern Westchester.

"We progress together. We heal together."

William's journey began while working in a day treatment center for students and families facing severe mental health challenges. It was there he witnessed firsthand how crucial secure attachments and healthy relationships are in building long-term resilience. That experience became the foundation for Riverstone Mental Health Collective, a practice committed to creating space for people to connect, heal, and grow—no matter their age or circumstances.

"My hope is to bring families together, whatever that might look like," William explains. "We guide people through the complex emotional landscapes we all encounter, and meet them exactly where they are."

Riverstone began as a solo practice, but William soon realized that the mental health needs of the community were too vast and nuanced for one provider alone. He began building a team of clinicians with unique specialties and gifts—expanding into a collaborative, multi-provider collective. Today, Riverstone includes licensed clinical social workers and a marriage and family therapist, each committed to tailoring care for individuals, couples, and families.

The practice offers a wide variety of services, including individual therapy for adults and children, couples counseling, and marriage and family therapy. In a nod to its evolving focus on holistic care, Riverstone is also expanding into perinatal mental health support for expectant and new mothers. One of the most unique offerings, however, is William's Nature Informed Therapy—a practice that integrates natural surroundings into mental health treatment.

"Nature can be a wonderful co-therapist," William says. "Our increasing disconnection from the natural world is contributing to stress, anxiety, and burnout. Reconnecting with nature can be a powerful tool for healing."

Whether in a forest, a garden, or by the water, Nature Informed Therapy creates space for mindfulness and emotional processing in a setting that soothes the nervous system and fosters reflection. Riverstone will soon launch a six-week "Nature Therapy for Wellness" course, offering structured sessions for those dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, or grief.

At its core, Riverstone values presence, compassion, and collaborative care. William and his team understand that each client is the expert of their own experience. From the very first contact, clients are met with curiosity and respect, and guided through personalized care rooted in both evidence-based modalities—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy—and genuine human connection.

"Respect is paramount," William emphasizes. "The relationship between therapist and client is foundational. It’s not about giving advice, it’s about creating space for people to explore, grow, and heal."

For children and adolescents, the Riverstone team uses developmentally sensitive approaches. “Kids need more structure and guidance,” William explains. “Teens are learning to become adults, trying on identities. Adults often come with goals in mind—and we collaborate to reach them, while always respecting the pace and process that’s right for each person.”

What sets Riverstone apart isn’t just the range of services, but the shared mission: to foster healing through togetherness. In a time where disconnection and loneliness are on the rise, William is intentionally building a practice rooted in belonging.

That connection extends into the community as well. Riverstone is actively involved in local outreach and aims to expand partnerships with green spaces and community organizations to make nature-based therapy more accessible. As William says, "We want to grow in concert with the needs of our community."

A personal story grounds his why: William remembers the loneliness of adolescence—and the power of feeling heard for the first time. "That’s what I carry into every session," he shares. "That someone listened, and it made all the difference."

Riverstone is a place where listening, healing, and change happen—together.

Riverstone’s new six-week course, led by William Henry, LCSW, integrates mindfulness, movement, and nature connection to help manage anxiety, stress, grief, and more. Held outdoors, these 90-minute experiential sessions offer participants powerful tools to support mental wellness—while reconnecting with the natural world.

"We want every client to feel heard and empowered. Change is then more than possible. This is where healing begins."
