What’s happening to mom?
At 62, Janet was known for her outgoing personality and active engagement with the community. Over time, small changes began to creep into her life – she started forgetting appointments, losing track during conversations, and most embarrassingly, she struggled to remember the names of old friends.
When her family brought it up, they first brushed it off as, “just getting older,” but the uncertainty remained when the problems seemed to get worse. Concerned but unsure where to turn, Janet’s daughter suggested they visit NeuroHealth of CT for answers.
While getting a diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disorder is anxiety-provoking, it offers a path forward. In Janet’s case, she and her family were able to understand her condition, make plans for the future, and make changes to her environment that made her comfortable and helped her function at her best.
Our Practice:
At NeuroHealth of CT, we specialize in understanding the complex relationship between brain health and behavior, helping you or your loved ones navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. Our team of dedicated neuropsychologists brings deep expertise and compassion to provide insights and solutions tailored to your unique needs.
The providers at NeuroHealth of CT offer specialized neuropsychological services to individuals of all backgrounds. Neuropsychologists help patients by assessing and diagnosing cognitive and emotional disorders, using various standardized measures. They also help patients and families understand functional abilities and limitations associated with medical or psychiatric conditions. Patients commonly are referred after being diagnosed with brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders or psychiatric disorders. Other patients have noticed a change in their functioning, such as a change in memory, and neuropsychologists can help determine if and why a change has occurred and provide a detailed treatment plan.
At NeuroHealth of CT, there are four fellowship trained neuropsychologists who provide assessment services for individuals of all ages. By identifying specific cognitive issues early on, these evaluations empower patients and providers with valuable information for effective care.
Patients at NeuroHealth of CT can expect a thorough evaluation of their neurocognitive abilities, resulting in tailored feedback and actionable recommendations for care. The practice evaluates a wide range of conditions, including Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of dementia, ADHD, autism, PTSD, serious mental illness, and neurological disorders such as hydrocephalus, stroke, and brain tumors. After each evaluation, patients receive a detailed report that includes a treatment plan and, if necessary, referrals to specialists in neurology, psychiatry, or other therapeutic fields.
Our collaborative approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care that addresses their unique needs. NeuroHealth of CT also coordinates with schools and other institutions to provide appropriate accommodations, especially for young patients with learning or behavioral challenges.
