Healthy Decisions

Some Local Choices for the Best New You

Any health and wellness goals for 2019? If so, there are some great clubs and businesses in town to help you reach them. Here are a few we really like.

SMARTCore Method

It provides highly individualized structural, movement and manual therapy programs. Through this integrative approach that changes the way muscles and bones align and move, clients often report pain relief, posture improvement, enhanced athletic performance and better functioning. SMARTCore is appropriate for a variety of ages and fitness pursuits.

Velofix

Velofix is on a roll so that you can be too. This mobile bike repair shop arrives in your driveway fully preassembled with all the tools, parts and expertise to get your favorite life cycle in perfect gear. Behind the wheel of the Velofix van sits Jim Troutt, an expert “wrench” and certified mechanic who will make you a chain for the better for 2019. While Jim wrenches all over the country for elite cyclists and triathletes, he brings the same standards of sterling service to a Brentwood family looking to ride the local greenways together.

Brentwood Endurance Athletic Team

These fit and friendly folks founded a local nonprofit in 2010 with a mission to foster physical fitness through triathlons and endurance sports. The key is camaraderie. For a small annual fee, members enjoy the social aspects of being a part of the BEAT while participating in training events and clinics. With currently some 120 members mostly made up of people from the greater Brentwood area, all levels of fitness are welcome, whether you’re getting ready for your first 5k or whether you’re intending to bag yet another Ironman. The BEAT gives back as well, partnering with My Best Buddy program to pair kids with special needs with other kids to assist them through the annual BEAT Nolensville Kids Triathlon. Proceeds go to Harvest Hands in Nashville to help with their youth programs. Last August, around 350 kids raced!

Restore Hyper Wellness and Cryotherapy

It's not a doctor's office. It's more like a social club, one that offers efficient, fun and transparent treatments that stimulate the body’s natural defense mechanisms and help customers achieve their wellness goals. Hyper Wellness modalities include cryotherapy, IV drip therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, infrared saunas and compression therapy.

Pure Sweat + Float Studio

Infrared sauna sessions warm the body at the cellular level and deliver a deep tissue sweat. The saunas also have other remedial benefits like weight loss and wound healing. Also, you can float your way to a healthier you in state-of-the-art Evolution Float Pods. The goals are to reduce inflammation, detox and renew cellular health. Float effortlessly in clean, warm water mixed with nearly 1,000 pounds of therapeutic Epsom salt, creating a seemingly gravity-free environment for deep healing and physical recovery.
