Stylist teaches clients the importance of clean scalps and hair

Ramon Alcala wants his clients to leave his salon with more than just satisfaction with their latest styling.

At Ramon’s Hair Design, he strives to help them secure their health by learning how to clean their hair and scalp.

Alcala starts by explaining the difference between washing and cleaning.

He’s been practicing and teaching about cleansing for the past six years, using Kevin Murphy products.

Clients may be skeptical at first until Alcala cleans their hair and blow dries it. Instantly, they see healthy beautiful hair.

Having clean hair also allows for proper coloring.

“The colorist will look at the color that it is when they walk in. It’s going to be a lot darker because of the oil that comes out when the hair grows,” Alcala said. “The oil that comes out makes the hair look darker. When the stylist makes up the color, it’s the wrong color. You have to cleanse the scalp and then clean the hair so you can see the real color of the hair.”

Alcala also believes cleaning the scalp and hair can impact your total health, eliminating allergens trapped in your hair and other contaminants.

“Your hair is like a salad. Everything you put in it, you have got to get it out," Alcala said.
