After a decade working as a Registered Nurse, Leslie Muniz saw a growing interest among people looking for non-invasive, drug-free options to complement their health and wellness routines.
That interest helped inspire BioIntelligence, where Muniz specializes in Electro-Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, a wellness service designed to support lymphatic flow and address swelling and inflammation while promoting circulation, relaxation, and an overall sense of well-being.
The name BioIntelligence reflects Muniz’s philosophy about the body itself.
“BioIntelligence is short for biological intelligence,” she explains. “The combining of the two words represents the innate consciousness we have that operates our body system toward homeostasis and balance.”
Simply put, homeostasis is the body’s built-in balancing system—constantly making small adjustments to help keep things like temperature, hydration, and other internal functions steady as conditions around us change.
Her nursing background remains an important part of how she approaches each client. Ten years working in multi-specialty surgical environments helped Muniz develop the judgment and awareness she now brings to her wellness practice.
“I have cultivated nursing judgment over ten years of experience to ensure physical and emotional safety,” she says. “I have found electro-lymphatic drainage to be a helpful non-pharmacological wellness option.”
For those unfamiliar with the therapy, Muniz describes its purpose simply: supporting the movement of lymphatic fluid and helping the body address areas of stagnation, swelling, and inflammation.
Unlike traditional hands-on lymphatic massage, Electro-Lymphatic Drainage uses a specialized device that delivers subtle static electrical pulses. Muniz describes the experience as gentle, painless, and relaxing.
Many of her regular clients are older adults who have experienced ongoing swelling or inflammation. Others simply want to explore ways of supporting their overall wellness.
Muniz recalls one client who came to her experiencing considerable swelling and heaviness in both lower legs. While remaining under the care of his physician, he added Electro-Lymphatic Drainage Therapy to his wellness routine. Along with dietary changes and consistent sessions, he reported reduced swelling and greater ease of movement.
For Muniz, that example also illustrates an important point: the therapy isn't intended to replace medical care or healthy habits.
“People must be aware they are ultimately responsible for their progress,” she says, emphasizing the importance of balanced nutrition, adequate water, exercise, stress reduction, and healthy relationships. “Electro-Lymphatic Drainage is a tool and option.”
Clients frequently tell her they feel deeply relaxed following a session. Some returning clients have also reported sleeping better and becoming more aware of how their bodies feel and respond.
That growing awareness is something Muniz particularly appreciates.
“Clients find a more in-tune connection to their body and appreciation for the repair, healing and regeneration that occurs.”
In Lifestyle's Thankful issue, Muniz says her gratitude extends well beyond her business.
“The longer I live on this earth, the more the simple things of family, health, relationships and God are of ultimate significance and importance,” she says.
She is especially thankful for the laughter of her son and daughter, the loving faces of her parents, guidance from mentors and teachers, and the opportunity to continue learning.
That gratitude also shapes what BioIntelligence means to her.
“I appreciate the opportunity to be useful to my community,” Muniz says. “I am helping the bodies and minds of people who are interested in helping themselves. It’s a win-win situation.”
For Muniz, BioIntelligence ultimately comes back to helping people become more engaged with their own well-being—and appreciating the body’s remarkable ability to seek balance. Please visit BioIntelligence at https://biointelligence.one for more information.
