Who are you?

“I am healthcare management professional with over 12 years of experience, and I am currently serving as CEO of TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center. I oversee the daily operations of our local hospital and Women’s Imaging Center in Hendersonville, as well as our freestanding emergency room located in Portland, TN.

What are some of your community activities?

“I serve on the board of directors of several different organizations, including the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Forward Sumner Economic Partnership and Interfaith Dental.”

What motivates you?

“I am blessed to work with and support the most resilient, selfless and caring people around – healthcare workers. They provide me with a constant source of strength and motivation.”

Who is your mentor?

“I have been blessed to have many mentors in my life who have inspired me. My primary influencer has always been my dad, who is a hard-working small business owner back home in Kentucky. I have also been mentored by many hospital leaders throughout my career.”

What is the greatest life lesson that you have learned?

“Good people beget good people.”

What advice would you give to others?

“Do more listening than talking.”

Paul Leavitt, M.D.

Family Medicine Physician

Leavitt Family Medicine

Who are you?

“I am a primary care physician who is board certified in family medicine. I have over 20 years of experience practicing medicine, and I have owned and operated Leavitt Family Medicine in Hendersonville since 2008.”

What are some of your community activities?

“I was a founding board member of Grace Place Ministry, and I continue to support this wonderful organization. I am also a board member of HolidayFest and a member of the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce.”

 

What motivates you?

“Helping people. Improving the quality of life of my patients is an honor and responsibility that I take very seriously. I love diagnosing and treating my patient’s medical conditions and watching them resume normal lives.”

Who is your mentor?

“I have been blessed to have many mentors in my life. My medical mentors are Dr. Edward Jackson and Dr Stuart Rupke, both of whom helped train me during my residency. My father is also one of my mentors. He has a great work ethic, and he always does everything he can to help others.”

What is the greatest life lesson that you have learned?

“Two life lessons stand out for me. First, be kind, because everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Second, never stop learning.”

What advice would you give to others?

"Enjoy your life journey – try to find a little beauty in every day. Relax and be happy - everything has a way of working out for the best.”

Paul Mitchell School - Nashville

Who are you?

“I am the managing partner and regional dean for the Paul Mitchell School in Hendersonville. Previously, I worked in healthcare, serving as the chief operating officer for United Healthcare and as President/CEO of GE Clinical Services.”

What are some of your community activities?

“I am a member of the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce and I volunteer with Grace Place Ministry.”

What motivates you?

“I am motivated by helping people succeed. At our school, we prepare our students to be successful in both their careers and in their daily lives.”

Who is your mentor?

“My mentor is John Paul DeJoria. John Paul is a co-founder of the Paul Mitchell Systems and Schools and the founder of the Patrón Spirits Company. He is a successful entrepreneur who also cares deeply about people.”

What is the greatest life lesson that you have learned?

“Never give up. You can grow from any situation that you may face in life.”

What advice would you give to others?

“Don’t allow your fears to rob you of your purpose.”

 

Mike Gaughan

Who are you?

“I am a realtor and a broker/owner of RE/MAX Choice Properties in Hendersonville. I have over 30 years of real estate experience and I am certified by the Graduate Realtors Institute. I also have an engineering background that has given me expertise in new construction projects.”

What are some of your community activities?

“I am very active in our community. I have been involved with and served in leadership roles in a lot of different organizations, including the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Hendersonville Rotary, Historic Rock Castle, Sumner and National Associations of Realtors, the Sumner County Family YMCA and the Jason Foundation.”

What motivates you?

“To be better every day and to serve others whenever and wherever I can.”

Who is your mentor?

“I’ve had a lot of mentors who have guided me in my life, including my high school football coach, my first employer and my father-in-law.”

What is the greatest life lesson that you have learned?

“We are only promised today, so make the most of it.”

What advice would you give to others?

“Your beliefs are who you are. So, stay strong in your faith, present in your family and diligent in your work.”
