Architect David Center of DA Center & Associates was tasked with turning an outdated mid-50’s ranch style home with small, segregated rooms into an open concept plan with modern features that would stand out from its neighbors.

Center says, “On a trip to Austin, Texas, I noticed many homes in the historic SoCo district were being renovated by including additions that could only be classified as modern architecture. The marriage of old and new was a sharp contrast to other surrounding homes and was just what I needed to make this home a standout.”

Owners, Jeremy and Natalie Carrico love the warm modern look combined with the Texas Hill Country style. They say that everyone who walks through the front door immediately falls in love with the home.

“We love all the natural light and open living spaces. The view of the treetops from the clerestory windows in the bedrooms is amazing! The unique luxury imported materials used throughout the home such as the Porcelanosa tiles from Spain and European-style pattern-matched walnut cabinetry is stunning," they say.

Listing agent, Amy Cavallin, says, “What I love about Center's work is the unique artistry in his design. It’s so much more than walls and windows. It’s a thoughtful use of space and light, the careful balance of rustic and modern, of comfort and technology. He seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living spaces to create peaceful environments. It truly creates a glamorous, yet cozy feel unlike any other I’ve experienced.”

The Carrico’s purchased the home with the intention of downsizing. A mere four years later, the couple realized they needed more space and privacy for their family.

“We love the neighborhood and decided to build just around the corner. We will be incorporating the same warmth, light and airy feel into our new home,” they say.
