As conventional medical procedures continue to evolve, so do alternative approaches to wellness. Holistic healthcare has emerged as a comprehensive field, addressing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual components simultaneously. Drawing from various disciplines, holistic healthcare offers treatments for both short and long-term illness, but specializes in prevention of disease. In recent years, natural healthcare has become more accessible, catering to those seeking alternative treatments for chronic pain, injuries, hormone health, arthritis, and for simply optimizing overall health.

Bend Natural Health, owned and operated by Dr. Christopher Neary, ND, MSOM offers natural treatments and products, striving to create vitality and wellbeing in the body by supporting optimal physiology.

Neary emphasizes that while the fundamental philosophy of Naturopathic medicine remains unchanged, certain treatment modalities have adapted to address modern needs. In today's complex world, navigating health challenges necessitates a holistic approach to healthcare. While contemporary and traditional medical practices each hold significance, Neary believes that an ideal practitioner adeptly integrates both approaches.

Alongside Bend Natural Health, Neary also owns and operates Prime IV Hydration & Wellness, also located in Bend. Prime IV was started by Neary’s cousin in Colorado and has become a successful, family-owned franchise. While Bend Natural Health specializes in bio-identical hormone pellets and injection therapies including PRP, Prolotherapy and A2M, Prime IV specializes in high quality nutrient IV therapy, NAD+, peptide therapy and medically supervised weight loss. Dr. Neary acts as both medical director and a member of the medical advisory council to develop and create safer protocols.

“After the events of 2020, the general interest in IV therapies grew to the extent that my clinic space was too small to accommodate. That is when I decided to open Prime IV Hydration & Wellness. The goal was to make IV therapy more accessible in our community and make the experience more spa like and less clinical. We still follow strict FDA guidelines and pride ourselves on safety, yet it’s also nice to sit in a massage chair while you get your IV,” Neary remarks.

Both men and women benefit from treatments at Neary’s clinics. “Most patients I see are looking for hormone support, injury recovery, peptide therapies and cardiovascular support. Much of our community is looking to optimize their health and performance without pharmaceuticals or surgery,” Neary says.

Keeping it Local

A true Central Oregonian, Dr. Neary grew up in Sisters and moved to Bend in his senior year of high school. After studying sports physiology and pre-med, he spent time working and traveling in Lake Tahoe, Kauai, and Alaska. After finishing medical school, Neary returned to Bend and began his own naturopathic practice offering hormone replacement, regenerative injections, IV therapies and other wellness treatments.

Living in a community that thrives year-round in the outdoors, Neary’s active lifestyle and love for the outdoors means he understands the care his patients are seeking. “I love our local community. Between my practice and Prime IV, we see people from all walks of life — friends, circles of friends, visitors, newbies and locals. I enjoy the variety of people and it keeps me feeling connected to the community at large,” he explains. “I work hard and play hard, and Central Oregon allows me to get out for a backcountry climb or a paddle in the river in a reasonable amount of time.”
