Mike and Elizabeth Jakubowski love what they do. And, increasingly in Brentwood and environs, so does everybody else. Mike and Elizabeth are the husband and wife tour de force team who constitute Woodward Homes, a family-owned building business for families who wish to build—and nail it. With more than a quarter century of combined experience in high-end residential design and construction, Mike and Elizabeth bring their talent to every job as if the home were their own. It’s a perfect partnership. Her background is in architecture and interior design while he is a licensed and experienced contractor with a gift for building and working with his hands. Together, they form a one-stop shop, seamlessly providing clients with a full range of services for any residential project, from a small remodeling job to the complete construction of a new home.

Mike and Elizabeth relocated to bustling Brentwood by way of Charleston, South Carolina, in 2016, just in time to bring Sonny, their first child, into the world. Now 15 months old, Sonny often accompanies his loving parents to clients’ homes, a small but lively example of how Woodward Homes is more than just a business. Woodward Homes is families getting to know and help each other. As Mike and Elizabeth like to say: “We are not just about building homes; we are about building community.”

When Mike and Elizabeth moved to town, the first home the creative couple went to work on here was their own, completely renovating an older house just off Moores Lane. The results are extraordinary. Out went the cramped dinginess that marked the 1970s, and in came the light and the spaciousness that marks fine living today, an aesthetic and functionality that Mike and Elizabeth expertly replicate in home after home, happy client after happy client.

“The Woodward Homes team is literally the whole package,” says Lacy, one such Brentwood homeowner. “We had great communication, and they were able to meet all of our needs for a successful remodel. Our home is now super functional, enjoyable and beautiful for our family!”

Form and function are what Mike and Elizabeth do.

"We like to go into a home and improve the functionality," she says. “It's a very fun challenge to see the possibilities in a space.”

One recent example had a homeowner wanting to add a master suite. Mike and Elizabeth saw that costs could be held down and the suite could still be realized by reconfiguring an overly large dining room and an office.

“Ultimately,” Mike points out, “that saves the homeowner money while enhancing both the home’s livability and its resale value. It's not just about the bottom line. It's about building relationships and having fun, too."

Along with an ever-expanding track record of building success in our area, Mike and Elizabeth have also recently launched a new aspect to their business: architectural plans for homes. These plans, which can be modified to a client’s desires, are now available on their website.
