"HIS-OC: Empowering Lives, Ending Homelessness, Appreciating Community Support"

Compassion, empathy, and the belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities.

Homeless Intervention Services of Orange County (HIS-OC) has provided in-reach and outreach services to underprivileged and unhoused folks in Orange County since 1989. We house families and transitional-aged youth (18-24) and provide street services, resources, and referrals.

Our programs provide a comprehensive approach that includes various services:

  • Emergency Shelter
  • Transitional Housing
  • Case Management
  • Resources
  • Job Training,
  • Mental Health Support
  • Access to Healthcare
  • Basic Needs

HIS-OC applies an equity lens to all programs, creating a more inclusive and just system that addresses the unique needs of underserved communities. Our approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and the belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities and a chance to thrive, creating a positive impact and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.

More recently, HIS-OC's services were expanded through the state's CalAim Community Support Services initiative. This program is a multifaced Medi-Cal program that addresses challenges faced by the most vulnerable population of OC. These services can be obtained through referrals from CalOptima, call-ins at (714)993-5774 x1000, or visit our Resources Specialist at the Whitten Center (900 S Melrose St.) or Gomez Center (1701 Atwood Ave), both in Placentia.

As a non-profit, HIS-OC actively participates in county grants, housing support programs, and all initiatives that support the cause. However, HIS-OC can significantly benefit from unrestricted funding from our local community to bridge the gap that granted programs do not cover, as being underprivileged or unhoused is not a one-size-fits-all solution.
