Success on the Spectrum (SOS) Bridgewater is making significant strides in providing high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism. The center focuses on personalized care, fostering a supportive, family-like atmosphere for both staff and clients.
Led by CEO Mahvish Gilani, SOS Bridgewater emphasizes individualized treatment programs tailored to each child’s unique needs. “Our approach starts with a detailed assessment by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA),” Gilani says. “This allows us to identify core deficits and create customized programs for each child.”
Drawing from personal experience and a strong sense of community, Gilani guides the clinic’s mission. “We’re not just running a clinic; we’re building a family,” she says. Staff and clients frequently express gratitude for the nurturing environment, which Gilani believes sets SOS Bridgewater apart from larger clinics.
A Tailored Approach to Care
At SOS Bridgewater, children receive one-on-one support from Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) during their sessions. For families with school-age children, the clinic offers after-school programs, while younger children benefit from full-day services. This adaptability ensures that all children receive the time and care they need to thrive.
In addition to therapy, SOS Bridgewater hosts regular parent training sessions to extend therapeutic strategies into the home. “It’s a partnership,” Gilani says. “We maintain open communication with families, sharing progress and addressing challenges together to ensure consistency in care.”
Challenges and Advocacy
Despite its successes, SOS Bridgewater faces challenges common in the ABA industry, including navigating insurance constraints and addressing gaps in school resources. “Some school districts claim to offer support, but the reality often falls short,” Gilani notes. “Our goal is to advocate for children to receive the one-on-one support they need in inclusive environments.”
To further support families, SOS Bridgewater plans to launch parent support groups in the coming year. “A diagnosis can feel overwhelming,” Gilani says. “We want to create a community where families can share experiences and resources.”
Looking Ahead
With 15 children currently enrolled and a dedicated staff of more than 20, SOS Bridgewater is exploring ways to expand its capacity. The clinic’s ultimate vision includes not only helping children with autism but also educating the broader community about inclusion. “The focus needs to be on equipping neurotypicals with the tools to embrace diversity,” Gilani says. “Empowering communities with awareness and empathy can create transformative change.”
