HGTV host, Matt Blashaw has a passion for empowering others to take on their projects around their homes. Through his shows over the years, he has loved seeing the transformation process not just with the projects he helps with but with the people involved.
Matt wants to teach them how to look at a space, and think, “I have a solution for this.” He believes in the power of making mistakes and learning from them. This is evident in his work with landscaping and renovations in homes that he has worked on. He knows the power of a transformed space and how accomplished one feels when they have done it themselves—“getting to see the result to amazing.”
He is currently filming a new show called Build Forward where they redo the homes of individuals who have started charities. The show will premiere this March on HGTV.
A new resident to Leawood, Matt has found nothing but welcoming people and success for his new contracting business, Blashaw Residential. With a background in real estate, Matt not only has an appreciation for the unique homes Leawood has to offer, but he ensures that the homeowners receive the space and atmosphere they desire that is unique to them. Since starting his company, he has worked in many different cities and currently is working with another Kansas City HGTV star, Tamara Day, on a project. Blashaw and his wife moved to Kansas City for the culture and kindness of the Midwest, and they have been loving the place they live!
Since he and his wife transitioned from warm California, Matt has begun many home renovation projects for clients. One of his favorite products to use are the Versatile Decorative Screen Panels from Barrette Outdoor Living ® that create privacy with upscale style. They come in many different designs and two sizes and add elevated designs to a space for little cost. In addition, these panels are very durable and can be installed yourself or with a friend. With the beautiful homes of Leawood and the surrounding areas, he appreciates how these panels do not take away from the architecture but add to it while updating the home for the desires of the homeowners.
