Splurge Bakery in Millburn is getting ready for the holidays, creating unique and delicious items for you, your family and guests to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to celebrate with lavishly decorated cakes, amazing pies, and/or beautifully decorated cookies, they have it all.
“We do a lot of custom orders, so when people come in, we can make their dessert dreams come true,” says owner Julie Winer. “We bake with the highest level of ingredients and everything is made from scratch. We don’t use mixes.”
Of course, amazing cakes that look too good to eat are always available. Julie’s decorating skills are incredible and she can make custom cakes for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday party, christening, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Hanukah. For the holidays, choices will include Star of David cakes, Christmas tree cakes and more.
For those who may not need an entire cake, there are now Cake Shots, which are great for those who may want to savor more than just one variety, or who would like to place them on a dessert table for guests to enjoy.
“Demand for our dessert bar items has really exploded” she says. “People are doing more parties and they're celebrating events in all different venues and offering elaborate dessert tables.”
Each order comes with 12 Cake Shots and customers can choose to mix and match 12 different varieties of cakes, including chocolate, vanilla and red velvet, with rich and creamy frosting. These have quickly become a customer favorite.
As always, fun Cake Pops decorated for everyday and holidays, such as Tom the Turkey for Thanksgiving, are available. She has also created something truly unique with Cake Buddies. About the size of a softball, they come in vanilla and chocolate cake, and are filled with yummy candies. What kid (or adult) would not love that!
Cookies are also a huge seller year round, and this holiday season you’ll find ones decorated for Thanksgiving, Hanukah, and Christmas. “We do a monthly cookie, so for November, we’ll have Thanksgiving cookies,” says Julie. Like the cakes, these cookies are true works of art. They are also popular to show team spirit by celebrating school sports teams.
Do-it-yourself cookie kits are also available so kids of any age can enjoy creating their own unique cookies. These come with icing, sprinkles and candy decorations.
Splurge Bakery pies with their flaky, buttery crusts always get great reviews. Varieties include apple with cinnamon-sugar crumb toppings, pecan, key lime, pumpkin with graham cracker crust, coconut cream, and banana cream pies in Nilla wafer crusts. Many of the pies are sold in glass dishes, so when you put one on your table, it looks just like you made it at home.
Other delightful options include chocolate dipped pretzels and Oreos, moist and flavorful breads, and the newest offering, spinach quiche. Just like everything else, it’s made with the highest standards for a delicious and fulfilling meal.
Vegan and gluten-free baked goods such as banana bread, cupcakes, cookies and other treats are also available. There is truly something for everyone to be found here.
