Perre Magness has studied food and cooking all over the world, but home is her kitchen of choice! She is probably most well-known for her love of all things pimento cheese, but she also enjoys making jam from produce found at local farmers’ markets and hosting pick-up food parties where her friends can sample all of her culinary creations, including specialized charcuterie boards. And she makes a mean biscuit!

Perre learned to cook in her childhood home. “My mother made a great dinner almost every night and my dad went through phases, cooking homemade bread, Chinese cuisine, and homemade pasta.” Her parents even hosted Julia Child in their home and, after much hand wringing, decided to serve a classic southern meal of fried chicken and biscuits.

Southern cuisine has defined Perre’s career. She has written three cookbooks including one featuring southern funeral food.  And, according to Perre, her blood runs part Memphis barbecue sauce!
