Men and Women Alike Enjoy the Whiskey Renaissance

Whiskey has traditionally been heralded as a “man’s drink” dating back to prohibition, but today its finding popularity amongst women who now make up 30 percent of whiskey drinkers. “I am seeing more women taking an interest in whiskey, even more so than six years ago when we opened,” says Jason Gartz, owner, and operator of The Stihl Whisk(e)y Bar in downtown Bend. Today, it’s not uncommon to see women as well as men ordering flights of Scotch and Irish Whiskey. Like with wine, tasting whiskey is an experience. Remember to sniff, sip and savor!
