As part of the Indy Eleven club, the women's team joined the newly formed USL W League during 2022. The team was the 17th team to be announced for the amateur women's league. The inaugural roster consisted of 25 women, including 11 players with Indiana ties, four international players and seven collegiate players.

The USL W league was originally announced in 2021 by the United Soccer League with eight clubs, six of which would be women's sides for existing men's USL teams, and two of which would be entirely new franchises. At launch, USL representatives stated the inaugural season would include at least 30 teams. The inaugural season began on May 6, 2022, with 44 teams across 20 states. By the 2023 season the league grew to 65 teams, and in 2026 it has 96 teams. The growth of the league resulted in the development of a four-conference system, which is divided into 16 divisions.

The name "Eleven" doesn't reference the 11 players who take to the field representing the club, ra rather it pays homage to Indiana's 11th Regiment Indiana Infantry in the American Civil War, while the navy colored checkered background is a nod to both Indianapolis' auto-racing culture and the Brickyard Battalion supporters group. Lady Victory from the Soldiers' and Sailors' monument is the focal point of the crest. The color scheme is the same as that of the civic flag of Indianapolis.

Indy Eleven W League Head Coaches

As former assistant coach for this team, Brandon Kim was promoted to head coach on Jan. 14, 2025. The Carmel native had been an assistant coach for the Girls in Blue since the team began in 2022, serving as acting head coach for much of the 2024 season. He now resides in Whitestown.

Prior to the Girls in Blue, Brandon was an assistant coach at Lady Victory FC in the WPSL and a men’s assistant at Marian University for three years. He began his coaching career at Carmel United and Park Tudor.

“To be head coach is an incredible honor,” Brandon says. “The Indy soccer community and the Eleven fan base are second to none. To say that I'm beyond grateful and excited to be back out on the field with them again in 2026 is an understatement."

Kelly Freeland is the goalkeeper coach. Sierra Garber enters her fifth season as head athletic trainer for the club’s USL W League squad. Emily Sochacki is the manager of team operations for the Girls in Blue.

The women's team official presenting sponsor for the 2026 season is Droplight.
