You're a mom, philanthropist, author, and certified leader in functional and integrative medicine. What is something people don't know about you?
Many don’t know I was training to become an Olympic figure skater, but an injury forced me to permanently hang up my skates. During my recovery, I became disillusioned with conventional medicine, so I pursued medical school with the goal of doing better for future patients.
Tell us about your newest book, GLOW: 90 Days To Create Your Vibrant Life From Within.
GLOW is a comprehensive 90-day plan to create a vibrant life. Women want transformation, but don't know where to start; therefore, we laid it out in manageable daily exercises.
What are three mindfulness rituals you practice?
Daily mantras, such as: “I am the author of my own book of life, and only I can decide where my story will go.” I also value spending time outdoors and allowing permission for me-time.
Why is philanthropy important to you?
Giving to others takes you out of your own problems, putting things into perspective. Plus, it allows us to do our part in making the world a better place.
What is Gateway for Cancer Research?
Gateway for Cancer Research is one of the only nonprofits exclusively dedicated to funding Phase I & II clinical trials and creating a world where a cancer diagnosis is no longer feared. As of 2023, Gateway has invested more than $114 million to fund over 234 clinical cancer trials. I have been the Vice Chair of Gateway for Cancer Research for over a decade.
