Meet Ethan and Asher McCoy.
They are pure inspiration to our publisher, two sparks of joy every day.
They are the assistants in the garage, learning about tools and mechanics as the family works on the classic truck that already provides hours of fun. They study the Bible with dad and explore God’s country together, their curious little minds always examining and creating. In this men’s issue, we wanted to ask the (much) younger generation what makes them say, “wow” and what advice they have for the even younger generation.
Asher is a very energetic and inquisitive 4-year-old. He enjoys learning about astronomy, playing math games, engaging in read-along stories, and participating in physical activities. He usually starts his day off with a self-guided curriculum on his tablet where he learns math, reading, science, and vocabulary.
Interestingly, Asher discovered a physical education elective in his online learning course that has not only got him moving but also taught him how and why exercise helps the body get fit. “I like to run and jog because it makes me feel healthy and helps me grow big and strong,” he says. His favorite exercise that he created is called the “ sonic boom run.” Ready, set, BLAST OFF!
Asher shares his love of exercise with his siblings by leading them in a round of jogging, jumping jacks, and push-ups.
His advice to other kids?
“Never stop learning, be good, eat your vegetables and stay healthy by exercising every day.”
When Asher grows up, he wants to be a race car driver. We have no doubt we’ll see him first over the finish line in whatever drives him.
Big brother Ethan is an active, fun-loving, inquisitive, and friendly 9-year-old who loves things that move, especially trains and airplanes. After school, he loves designing airports with his toy airplane collection. In his third-grade virtual classroom, he enjoys science and reading but is crazy about art. He is generous with his drawings, presenting the gift of art to friends, family, and people he meets.
“I have four tips for kids to be creative and have fun this summer. 1. Play and have fun whether it is a board game, some toys, or outside in the fresh air, which is highly important. 2. Draw, paint, or color 3. Make a pillow fort or castle. 4.Turn on some music, sing, and dance. My mom and I have dance parties which allows us to have fun while getting a quick workout in. Have fun, get out of the house and get some fresh air and we will get through this together, everyone be safe and I hope to see all of my old and new friends in person at the start of the new school year! Enjoy your summer!”
