From everyday moments to lasting memories, so much of life happens at home with family and friends. When it comes to designing the interior of a home, it is important to create a space that not only meets the needs of each homeowner but also reflects their personality and style. Without a bit of expert advice, the choices and decisions can quickly become overwhelming, but the team at Arvada Flooring + Interiors uses their knowledge and training to make the process seamless and as stress free as possible.
“We take great pride in our customer service and the fact that we take the time to train our staff so that they know what product will fit each individual's needs,” explains Liz Matovina, Business Manager and Accountant for Bear Claw Trading Company, the parent company of Arvada Flooring + Interiors. “If we don't know the answer, we find someone who does. We try to get our customers taken care of quickly and efficiently.”
In Arvada Flooring + Interiors’ newly expanded showroom, customers can explore seemingly endless options to help design, build, or renovate indoor spaces. “We offer complete flooring, including carpet, hardwood, tile, laminate, and luxury vinyl plank,” says Liz. “Our showroom also features countertops, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, Norman blinds, and Benjamin Moore paint. Customers can buy directly or have us install any of those products.”
The showroom includes a new Design Center for customers to work with an on-site designer, ensuring that any new products installed will be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. A full, working kitchen serves as a fun addition to the showroom and will be used for events and special treats for customers, including cookies each Wednesday from 3:00-5:00pm.
The larger space also allows for collaboration with other businesses within the community. “We are excited to partner with several local businesses, Arvada Appliances and Arvada Vacuum, who are providing products to display in the showroom,” shares Liz. “We've also partnered with Mountain Hearth and Patio to install a fireplace in our new showroom.”
Currently, Liz is seeing trends that focus on colors moving away from gray and beige and towards the use of earth tones. However, she stresses that a homeowner’s preferences and personal style usually take precedence over trends. “There are many things to consider when you're remodeling a kitchen or a bathroom in your home,” she says. “The modern trends may not fit your lifestyle, so you need to be comfortable and remember that it's a personal statement of who you are.”
During her time in the industry, Liz has experienced the evolution of products as manufacturers continue to meet the changing needs of the population. One is the continued integration of technology in appliances and the use of artificial intelligence. Other big changes relate to the durability of flooring in different situations and there are a few products Liz thinks are a solid choice for many Arvada residents.
“In the flooring world, people like the look of wood and there are a couple options that they can use. They can do solid wood, engineered wood, or luxury vinyl plank, which looks like wood, but it's not wood,” she explains. “In Colorado, we highly recommend the luxury vinyl plank over the other two because of humidity, or the lack thereof, in Colorado. Not having a stabilized humidity in your environment can cause your floor not to perform well if it's solid or engineered.”
Another innovation for pet owners is the Shaw Pet Perfect line, which includes technology that allows pet hair to release from the carpet, making vacuuming easier, and has a protective layer between the fiber and the pad which protects the pad and subfloor from accidents.
