If you’ve been searching for a place to stretch, breathe, and move with intention—look no further. Now in its fifth year, Balanced Movement remains one of Greeley’s only dedicated yoga studios—and owner Heather Berry continues to welcome students into a space that feels as grounded and inviting as she is.
Heather’s journey to opening Balanced Movement didn’t begin with a lifelong plan. In fact, she wasn’t even looking to open a studio when a potential business partner approached her in 2020 with a space and a vision. “I was teaching at several gyms at the time,” she recalls. “The idea of creating a space where I could offer the classes I was passionate about—without following someone else’s rules—was incredibly appealing.”
Launching a business during a pandemic might seem daunting, but Heather was no stranger to pressure. Working full-time as an ER veterinary technician, she saw the studio as a manageable side venture—one she could build slowly and intentionally.
Her own introduction to yoga came after years in bodybuilding and powerlifting. Initially drawn in by the promise of increased flexibility, she quickly discovered something deeper.
“Yoga became more than movement,” she says. “It became a way of life.” From competing in yoga events to falling in love with arm balances and handstands, Heather’s passion evolved into purpose, leading her to teacher training in Vinyasa yoga—a style she still favors for its creativity and variety.
In 2023, Heather moved Balanced Movement to a larger space, complete with both heated and non-heated rooms, and transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship. She bought out her business partner, expanded class offerings, and brought on new instructors. “I knew yoga, but running a business was a whole different challenge,” she admits. Hiring a yoga business coach helped her build a foundation and embrace the mindset of always being a student.
What truly sets Balanced Movement apart is its heart. “We’re not just a yoga studio,” Heather says. “We’re a community that honors each person’s journey toward better health.” The studio offers a wide range of classes, blending yoga, fitness, and healing modalities to meet people where they are—whether it’s their first class or their hundredth.
Walking into the studio still feels surreal for Heather. “Every day, I think, ‘I did this.’ It’s hard, it’s unpredictable, but it’s worth it.” Her hope is that Balanced Movement continues to grow as a place where Greeley comes to connect, breathe, and move with intention.
