14 years ago, Kat Jamieson started her blog 'With Love from Kat,' after working in the fashion industry and living in New York City. After studying interior design in college, Kat realized her ultimate passion was in fashion. She was able to use her blog as a creative outlet tying in her love of fashion, decor, wellness, travel, beauty and so much more.
Flash forward to present day and Kat has written her own book, "Blended" and successfully launched a stunning clothing brand, Everyone Loves the Weekend. A name fitted for the level of style she has created.
Kat, and her husband, Thomas got married 3 years ago in Nantucket and now live in New Canaan. As an avid traveler, Kat has used some of her favorite places she has visited as inspiration for her pieces including Nantucket, Capri and St. Barth. Through each of her designs, you are able to see the intricate details she has worked in, a taste of those stunning destinations.
Greenwich Lifestyle spoke with Kat, the creative visionary behind this recently launched brand.
GL: Why did you decide to create “Everyone Loves The Weekend” and what was the inspiration behind your brand?
KJ: I felt there was a need for quality midi-style dresses that were both timeless and flattering. I love wearing dresses, they’re so easy to throw on and can be dressed up or down. I wanted a collection that prioritized beautiful fabric so I set out to use the finest 100% linen and cotton material I could find! The collection is full of classic, effortlessly chic pieces that you’ll have for years to come.
I’ve always been extremely creative and had a love of fashion and design. My first job when I was 16 was working at a local clothing boutique, and then from there I became a sales associate at Calypso St. Barth and then Saks. I remember spending my entire paycheck on clothes, I was in heaven being surrounded by beautiful things every day.
GL: This issue is all about “style” What are some fashion tips you have for people as we approach the fall?
KJ: Cinch your waist with a thick brown leather belt like the one I’m wearing here. It instantly adds contrast and dimension to an all black or white silhouette. I’m a big fan of re-wearing my clothes. I do a ton of monochromatic outfits in the fall and then have fun with the accessories to mix it up. I also love doing a simple head-to-toe black outfit with a saddle color leather bag and Chanel ballet flat. Jackie Kennedy has always been a huge style inspiration for me. If you look back at photos of her outfits from 50 years ago, they’re still just as stylish today!
Don’t be afraid to wear ivory in the winter. Winter whites are beautiful.
GL: Why do you feel this community is important and what is your favorite part of it?
KJ: I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how inviting the Fairfield County community is. We’ve loved having our neighbors over for cozy wine nights by the fire and immediately felt at home in the area. It’s been fun to connect with so many NYC transplants as well as fellow female entrepreneurs. There’s such a wonderful mix of culture, style, work ethic, and warmth here!
Having a small business isn’t easy, and I’ve been so grateful for the women who have rallied behind me during this launch. Within the first week, women who I had just met were opening up their yoga studios, homes and boutiques for our trunk shows. The love and support we’ve felt from this community has been incredible.
