Sushi | Bar Nashville is an intimate omakase speakeasy that presents a whimsical celebration of its namesake fare through 17 exquisite courses. The hidden gem is new to Music City and tucked inside The Gulch. Since opening its first location in Austin, Texas, in 2020, Sushi | Bar Nashville is now one of only five locations in the country. The chefs teach guests about each course along the way, ensuring both a lavish and knowledgeable experience.

Ryan Stock is one of the three partners of Sushi | Bar. Working in the restaurant industry since high school, he knew from an early age that his passion fell within cooking and hospitality. He spent years in culinary school before creating Sushi | Bar.

Guests of Sushi | Bar Nashville will experience an inviting ambiance as their culinary chefs expertly prepare a 17-course selection of new-wave nigiri along with other impressive delicacies from both land and sea. With a welcome cocktail waiting for you as you walk in, an unmarked door lies an intimate dining room housing twelve seats where you will sit eye-to-eye with the sushi counter. Taking the traditional sushi experience and infusing it with delightful surprises, the chefs offer a fresh perspective on beloved classics, adding unexpected flavors and spins.

All courses are listed on a board sitting behind the chefs, which allows guests to follow along with each bite. Watching the chefs curate each piece and listening as they walk you through the ingredients offers a unique and memorable experience. The intimacy of each reservation encourages banter between guests and the chefs, as well as getting to know the people sitting around you as you dine. Sushi | Bar’s specially curated omakase experience is comprised of a rotating menu that includes seasonal ingredients and welcomes a culinary journey that is sure to be nothing short of extraordinary.

“What’s really cool with omakase in general, but especially with our experiences, is that the guests don’t really have to make any of the decisions,” Ryan shares. “There is not the intimidation of not knowing what you want to order or not being familiar with certain types of sushi… all of that is taken off of your plate so the guests can just show up and enjoy.”

Ryan shares how exciting it has been for him and his team to be bringing the first true omakase experience to Music City. He states, “[Nashville] is such an exciting town and there’s a lot of growth and investment into the infrastructure of the city. It’s a town that’s certainly got a lot of great restaurants and chefs, but I also think it’s a town that has a ton of opportunity for some really awesome stuff to still come in.”

Reservations for the exclusive experience open on the first of every month. After quickly selling out the first few weeks since their grand opening in July, the restaurant has officially added more reservation times, now seating: 5:00 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, in addition to a 9:30 p.m. slot on Fridays and Saturdays. Attached to the establishment is the Golden Sound cocktail lounge. Enriched with history, the location of Golden Sound used to be a recording studio in the older days of Nashville. Accessible without reservations, it is the perfect spot to indulge in a classic cocktail and offers a new, luxurious spot to visit in the city.
