Exploring East Salt Lake’s Thriving Entertainment Scene

Millcreek is buzzing with exciting venues that cater to a variety of interests, from active entertainment to social hangouts. Here’s a look at four standout businesses that are redefining fun in the area.

Slick City East Salt Lake

Slick City East Salt Lake, owned by Jordan Wade and Matt Lambeth, is the newest addition to the indoor active entertainment industry. Wade and Lambeth bring a wealth of experience to their venture, having worked together for more than a decade at Sky Zone, the world’s largest trampoline park company. During their tenure, they oversaw the construction and operation of hundreds of trampoline parks worldwide.

After leaving Sky Zone, the duo spent two years searching for the perfect opportunity to bring Slick City to Utah. Now, they’re excited to introduce what they describe as “the newest, most exciting product in the indoor active entertainment industry” to the state. As a new business, Slick City promises to deliver a fresh, exhilarating experience to Utah residents.

Rounds Putt Lounge: Mini Golf Meets Modern Fun

Lauren and Collin Dumke, owners of Rounds Putt Lounge, have created a space where mini golf meets modern socializing. This indoor venue features automated scoring mini golf, a variety of drinks, food, and an arcade, making it a destination for all ages and skill levels.

“Our space is designed to be highly inclusive for all golfing abilities, while still being effortlessly competitive thanks to the automatic scoring system,” the Dumkes said. Rounds Putt Lounge is a popular choice for birthday parties, company events, and casual outings with family and friends. With a beer license, dirty sodas, and a welcoming atmosphere, the venue focuses on creating a social experience that’s both fun and accessible.

Olympus Hills Lanes: A Legacy of Bowling Excellence

For more than 60 years, Olympus Hills Lanes has been a fixture on the East bench. Originally known as Wasatch Lanes, the bowling center was purchased by owner Gordon Lindstrom in 1999. What Lindstrom initially envisioned as a 10-year venture has turned into a thriving business that continues to serve the community.

“The success of the business is due to our awesome managers and employees,” Lindstrom said. Among the dedicated team are Stephen, who has been with the center since 1990 and oversees equipment and maintenance, and Meridee, who manages customer service and the snack bar. With a strong team of employees, Olympus Hills Lanes offers a great experience for both open-play and league bowlers.

The Picklr: A Pickleball Powerhouse

The Picklr, started by Jorge Barragan, is making waves in the pickleball world. Partnering with Pickleball Inc. and Super Bowl champion Drew Brees, the company has sold over 500 locations worldwide. Barragan credits the sport's success to the community that has rallied around it.

Pickleball connects people, regardless of skill level. Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong and is played on a smaller court with a lower net. The game is typically played in doubles or singles, using a paddle and a perforated plastic ball, making it a fun and social activity that’s easy to learn but offers plenty of competitive challenge.
