Nurturing Futures

The lifelong impact of investing in your child’s education

As a parent, you are met with making about 35,000 decisions each day. When it comes to your child, you want only the best to set them up for life-long success. One of the earliest decisions parents must make with the longest-term impact is your child’s education.

The GV Christian Center was established in Henderson in 1982. In 1991, the GV Christian School opened as an educational center for preschoolers. In 1993, after years of research and seeing the success of their preschool program, GV Christian School expanded, serving kindergarten through 12th grade.

Today, GV Christian School remains true to its mission of being the best Christian school in the nation, providing a loving, nurturing environment for children to achieve their emotional, spiritual, and academic best. One way this is accomplished is by creating a tight-knit community that creates lasting relationships long after the diplomas have been issued.

“Families have become life-long friends through our school. We offer school trips, events, and sports to connect families and staff. We can pray, encourage, and support our families through life's ups and downs,” says Stephanie Smith, principal of junior and senior high.

Elementary principal, Jamie Bielich, echoes, “GV Christian School is more than a school; it is a family. We create a safe learning environment that focuses on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health of our students.” The school’s motto, “The pursuit of God, knowledge, compassion, and leadership” is apparent in all aspects of campus life at GV Christian School.

From the moment you contact GV Christian School, you are greeted with personalized service that makes you feel welcome and confident in your choice. Each prospective student is set up for success in a variety of ways, starting with an entrance exam. “We are a preparatory school and believe this is the best way to determine whether or not we are a good fit for new students,” says Smith. “We meet with high school families each year to review their graduation plan, ensuring they are on track to be accepted into the college of their choosing.”

GV Christian School also offers seniors a life skills course teaching the best practices for job interviews, budgeting, changing a tire, and paying taxes, along with the college application process.

The educational experience at GV Christian School extends well beyond the classroom walls with the inclusion of various field trips and excursions. “We take approximately five field trips each year because hands-on learning is the best,” explained Bielich.

Students in sixth through 12th grades attend a five-day expedition trip. “These trips are a highlight for our students each school year,” says Smith. Middle school attends the Outdoor Education Program, while grades nine through 12 visit locales like Washington, D.C., and New York City.

GV Christian School contributes to several outreach programs, including their own “Do Something Days.” The elementary side adopts families from a nearby Title 1 school for the holidays as just one of their many contributions.

Students are afforded the opportunity to grow socially through extracurricular activities, including sports starting in first grade. “This is unique in that they can start young and improve their skills each year and move up to middle school sports then play junior and varsity sports. Students could potentially play with the same kids for a decade, which has created depth in our sports programs and state title-winning teams,” said Bielich.

Investing in your child’s education goes well beyond simply the financial aspect. At GV Christian School, it is an investment that sets them up for a successful future … and that is priceless.
