The State of New Jersey has officially recognized what the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District has long known: Jaclynn Hurley is an exceptional educator.
A year after being honored locally, Jaclynn Hurley, a fifth-grade math, science, and social studies teacher at Eisenhower Intermediate School, has been named a 2024 Exemplary Educator by the New Jersey Department of Education.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education celebrated her achievement on Tuesday, Dec. 10, during a regular meeting where Superintendent Bob Beers presented her with the state’s Exemplary Educator certificate. “Congratulations on winning another award. You are an excellent representative of the district,” Superintendent Beers said.
Mrs. Hurley expressed her gratitude, saying, “This is extremely gratifying to see the work that I do acknowledged and to witness each student achieve success.”
The Exemplary Educator Program identifies outstanding educators across the state for special recognition. This year, Mrs. Hurley was one of 160 honorees selected. Dr. Laura Bassett, Eisenhower’s principal, nominated Mrs. Hurley earlier in the year, building on her prior recognition as the school’s Governor’s Educator of the Year for 2023-2024.
“I am so proud of Mrs. Hurley for this state-wide recognition,” Dr. Bassett said. “She exemplifies leadership and dedication, making a positive difference in our school community.”
Mrs. Hurley’s ties to the district make this honor especially meaningful. A proud alumna, she attended John F. Kennedy Primary School, Van Holten Primary School, Eisenhower, Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, and Bridgewater-Raritan High School, graduating in 2001. After earning her degree at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, she returned to teach in the very district that shaped her.
“I always wanted to come back to Bridgewater-Raritan,” she said. Remarkably, she even taught in Room 206, where she studied language arts as a sixth-grade student.
Dr. Bassett concluded, “Jackie is a leader in our school and exemplifies what it means to SOAR at Eisenhower.”
