Scott Yates—better known by his stage name, Blazen—is a lifelong Bridgewater resident, Bridgewater-Raritan High School East Class of ’88, and proud father of two. His son Tyler is currently a senior at BRHS, while his daughter Katrina, now a Rutgers biology major, lent her voice to the track “I Don’t Hate You.”
For years, Blazen was a familiar face in Central Jersey’s cover band circuit, performing across local venues while quietly crafting his own original sound. It wasn’t until the world slowed down during the COVID-19 pandemic that he found the space to reflect, write, and bring his vision to life.
The result? Central Jersey Exists—a 10-track debut album produced by Anthony Krizan at Sonic Boom Studios. Blazen’s music blends rock with influences from multiple genres, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh. Each song tells a story, from high-energy crowd-pleasers to deeply personal ballads.
“Central Jersey isn’t just a place—it’s a vibe, a community, a sound,” says Blazen. “This album is about putting us on the map and proving that meaningful music is being made right here.”
More than just music, the album is a message: Central Jersey has a voice, and it’s worth listening to. It’s a celebration of identity, passion, and the power of perseverance.
A proud champion of his hometown and its creative community—not to mention a vocal pork roll (not Taylor Ham) supporter—Blazen is on a mission to shine a spotlight on local talent.
