Nestled in the White Hills of Shelton, Jones Family Farms is a family-friendly, 400-acre working farm that is sure to impress any visitor with its 19th-century dairy barn and homestead farmhouse in a peaceful, relaxing environment. As the holiday season approaches, Jones Family Farms is a staple for families both near and far attracting visitors from New York to Massachusetts all hoping to find the perfect Christmas tree, make unforgettable memories and enjoy the Jones experience we’ve all come to know and love. The farm is currently under the direction of the seventh generation to join the family – Jamie and Christiana Jones – along with their three children and many other family members from generations prior.
Fourth-generation Philip Jones planted evergreen seedlings on the farm as part of a 4-H forestry project in 1938. Some of these original trees still stand along the edge of the farm, towering 100 feet above today’s Christmas trees.

Did you know? Jones Family Farms also harvests pumpkins, strawberries and blueberries!
Jones Family Farms is open for tree season from the weekend before Thanksgiving through December 24. Reservations are required on the weekends of tree season for harvest-your-own trees and pre-cut trees via an online system in order to regulate the number of guests at the farm at any given time. Plan your day ahead and take the scenic route north up the Merritt Parkway about 45 minutes to your destination.
Upon your arrival, you’ll find the finest selection of premium Christmas trees, including Blue Spruce, Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir and Angel White Pine. There are two different areas across 200 acres to harvest-your-own tree – Candy Cane Hill and the Merry Berry Valley Farm – or you can choose to visit the Homestead Farm and Barnyard where a Jones Farmer can help you find the perfect pre-cut tree. The Barnyard Shops, Harvest Kitchen and Jones Winery Tasting Room are a must-see before heading back on the road. Customers can shop hand-made crafts, fresh wreaths, handmade garland, premiere wines and more or simply enjoy a hot cup of mulled cider with a Jones’ famous trail mix cookie. Don’t forget to leave a Letter for Santa!
To celebrate 75 years of harvesting trees, Jones Family Farms will commemorate the occasion with a special ornament honoring the milestone. Since the early 1990s, Jones Family Farms has been giving a pewter tree ornament to guests who harvest their own tree at the farm, and this year will be no different. Jean Jones, Jamie’s mother, is also producing a 75th Anniversary Christmas Tree Remembrances and Recipe Book. The first section is a scrapbook of how Philip H. Jones began and developed the farm’s Christmas tree business and the second section features holiday recipes from four generations of the Jones family. A perfect gift for the holidays!
Make the Most of Your Visit
Before you visit, measure the height of your ceiling and bring a tape measure to the field. Trees tend to look smaller in the field than in your home.

Wear appropriate footwear. You will encounter an all-natural terrain!

The farm provides twine and tree bailing services to wrap the tree tightly for the ride home.
