Just Breathe

Practice yoga and take your body to new levels of relaxation, rejuvenation and health

David Lloyd’s journey has changed the way he sees wellness, fitness and life. His journey to health and fitness began following college when he studied mixed martial arts. In 2007, he was introduced to yoga and began noticing similar stances between it and Martial Arts. He has been a certified yoga teacher for eight years.

In 2005, he experienced a neck problem stemming from sleeping on a small pillow while on vacation. This brought on neck, shoulder and back issues for him, and he discovered yoga essentially erased all the aches and pains. In 2012, he and a former business partner wanted to spread their love of yoga and its amazing benefits to the community.

Lotus Yoga and Wellness was established in 2014, and Lloyd took full ownership in 2016 and in 2019, moved the studio to its new location on Metcalf.

Lloyd completed Level II, Level III and has been a Reiki Master since 2017.

Of his staff, he said, “We have nine different yoga teachers that teach a variety of times and styles. Christi is full of joy and used to dance for theater shows down in Branson, Missouri. Janet lived in New York before the pandemic and was a Broadway actress. Jessica is a full-time mom of two wonderful kids. Jodi is a personal trainer and has taught teens that have gone on to be professional sports players. Kelli is an Occupational Therapist and attends to several clients every week.”

They offer a mix of classes year-round for beginners to experienced, all listed on their website. All are judgment-free.

Happy glitter! That is a scientific term for D.O.P.E., Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins, which your brain releases during yoga.

“Take a big breath and breathe in happy fuel!” he smiled. “In yoga classes, we stretch the spine in all directions: fold forward, bend backwards, sway sideways right and left, and twist right and left. The older Chinese people have been doing this for centuries. They know if they stay working in their rice fields as they age, they continue to feel young. Awesomeness is here! I can already see you walking through the door! Om Shanti!"

In closing, he wishes us Namasté, which means, “The light in me sees the light in you, and we are one.”
