Keep Your Smile

Adam Fienman DDS in West Bloomfield continuously provides exceptional dental care to patients and their families.

Adam Fienman DDS was founded in 1999 by Dr. Allen Platt (then called Allen R. Platt DDS) to provide exceptional dental care to patients from West Bloomfield, the Greater Metro Detroit area and beyond. Over two decades later, high quality dental care in a compassionate and fun-loving atmosphere is definitely alive and well.

When patients first enter the office of Dr. Fienman, they will not experience a cold, clinical feel but rather, as Dr. Fienman describes it, an “extension of my home.” In fact, with the current Covid regulations, he said the experience will feel even more personal.

“The traditional waiting room has been put on hold, so patients will wait in their cars until one of the hygienists or assistants welcomes them in,” Dr. Fienman explained in June. “Patients would be welcomed by Lisa (office manager) and Laura (scheduling coordinator) at the front desk and then taken through a short health screening questionnaire, including a temperature check.”

Treatment rooms are equipped with Sonos audio systems and the latest streaming music channels, allowing patients to choose what they would like to hear while the team at Dr. Fienman takes care of their dental needs. Additionally, Zeus, a two-year-old labradoodle mix, has spent almost every day at the office since Dr. Fienman took over the practice from Dr. Platt; however, ever since the Covid restrictions took effect, Zeus has been at home with the Fienman family.

“He usually spends the day sleeping on the couch in my office, having lunch with the staff and visiting our dog-loving patients throughout the day,” Dr. Fienman said. “We look forward to the near future when he can return to his place in the office, but until then, he will be living a very active life with my family at home.”

In addition to Zeus, Dr. Fienman and his wife, Tracie, have four children: big sister Madelyn and triplets Hannah, Blake and Levi. Caring for others obviously comes naturally to Dr. Fienman who added that his staff especially likes caring for everyone’s friends and families, as well.

“The dental office is a very challenging place for many people,” he said. “There are a lot of people who don't like the dentist because they have had bad experiences in the past. When I am in treatment with a patient, that is the only person who matters, and they have my full attention regardless of what else is happening in the office and regardless of their age. The person in the big chair is the most important person to me at that moment.”

A New Jersey native, Dr. Fienman is the son of an orthodontist and dental hygienist. He completed both his undergraduate and dental school studies at the University of Michigan. He then pursued further training, completing a general practice residency in 2006 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor where he was able to gain valuable experience treating a wide range of patients with complex medical needs.

Dr. Fienman said his four years of undergraduate work and four years of dental school laid a foundation for the challenges he faces day-to-day. With new techniques, material and technologies constantly being developed and advanced in dentistry though, he regularly expands his clinical offerings to patients through the completion of a wide range of continuing education courses such as extensive training in oral surgery, dental implants, bone grafting, orthodontics and Invisalign.

“As a practicing dentist in Michigan, I am required to keep up with continuing education courses and complete 60 credits every three years to maintain my license,” he explained. “I think I have over 90 credits, and I am not even halfway through my current three-year renewal cycle. In order to be your best, you have to continually challenge yourself and learn new things.”

Adam Fienman DDS is located at 5813 W. Maple Rd. (Suite 131) in West Bloomfield. The office will continue to follow the highest infection control standards from OSHA, the CDC, American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association. “My goal is for my patients to keep their smiles for the rest of their lives,” Dr. Fienman said. “I find that people who do, tend to be much happier.”
