Kid Friendly Restaurants

Family Dining that We Can ALL Agree On!

What ingredients work best for a family friendly restaurant?

For me and my family the number one priority of choosing a restaurant is one that everyone is happy with. Typically if parents have a satisfying meal the kids complain, or if the kids are happy the parents suffer from lack of taste and nutrition. We have all been there, trying to balance everyone’s palates into one restaurant. Secondary to taste is comfort, we love a restaurant that feels relaxed enough that our kids aren’t too loud and being stared at. A place that feels at ease with kids who need a little more freedom of movement and aren’t bumping into their neighbor.  Third priority is cost, we have found the typical cost of a kids meal at a national fast food chain is between $6 to $9. Many local restaurants have offerings within this price range with better quality ingredients. In the moment, kids may want that toy that comes with a meal, however, they lose interest quickly.

These four restaurants have been favorites of my family for years, we also know that there are many good restaurants in the area that are accommodating to children. Give these a try if you are searching for something new.

Pasta Factory

The bread sticks from Pasta Factory can win over the toughest of our small critics. One dish that our family loves is the build your own- noodle of choice, Szechuan chicken, creamy pesto and broccoli. At least one person orders this every time we dine here. A variety of pasta dishes can appease the simplest to the most extravagant of tastebuds. Pasta seems to be universal in its appeal to the masses, just like pizza (No worries Pizza Factory is just upstairs).

Tiki Island Broiler

This is one of those hidden gems of St. George that you hope and also dread everyone finding out about. The place where you stick to your usual (Rice Noodle Bowl with Kalua Pork and Sesame Chicken), but when you do branch out you are never disappointed. The kids meals and student lunch specials are very affordable for family dining. Many of our family members ask for this to be the last meal before they leave town for a long duration of time.

Roni's Mac Bar

What kid doesn’t like mac and cheese? Even the kid at heart can enjoy this classic again with proteins and vegetables that are only the start of what makes this mac and cheese great. Cheddar, Pepper Jack and Alfredo with seasonal Gouda cheese sauces, paired with other sauces like barbecue, hot honey and ranch give this mac and cheese an edge over any other. Truly, the plain Jane mac and cheese is now the prettiest girl at the ball. Don't forget to try my favorite grilled cheese sandwich with mac and cheese inside. Also, if you are looking for a place to host your team party, ask to reserve the Mac Lounge.

Chubby's Neighborhood Grill

If you are looking for the classic burger and fries or chicken tender, Chubby's won't disappoint.  They hand banter their chicken strips and cook everything to order. This family owned burger joint isn't just burgers.  Known for "home grown flavors" with a variety of sandwiches like cheese steak, pulled pork and chicken barbecue. Their kids meals are just right for adults with smaller appetites.
