The arts at La Reina offer young women an additional pathway for finding their personal voice. In keeping with the vision of the Sisters of Notre Dame, the arts are an important part of the school’s mission of educating the whole person, nurturing and encouraging them to discover and foster their God-given talents, develop their creativity and imagination and participate in activities that support personal transformation.
Some of La Reina’s students desire a strong academic program while pursuing an arts-oriented career. For these students, the VPA Academy was developed to provide the education and experience necessary to progress to both university and professional study. The VPA Academy takes imaginative critical thinkers and expands their abilities to evaluate, organize and produce innovative solutions in our complex world. Opportunities abound both inside and outside the classroom—from solo singing and theatre to graphic design.
Students who demonstrate a commitment to the arts and wish to graduate as members of the Visual and Performing Arts Academy must complete eight semesters of art classes while at La Reina. Our graduates are collaborators. They are intuitive, imaginative creators and observers in all areas of their lives. Upon graduation, successful candidates in the VPA program receive the VPA Academy cord and a seal on their diploma.
Recent La Reina and VPA Academy graduate Lauren Brown ‘19 shares, “I will forever be grateful for the performing arts program. The faculty helped me develop into the confident performer who is graduating this year. I have become confident in myself both on and off stage. The Performance Arts program has pushed me to become a leader and proud of my capabilities.”
The La Reina Arts Department is proud to share that Lauren is pursuing Oklahoma City University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. She earned an academic scholarship and received the highest talent scholarship offered for the acting program.

La Reina’s High School Choir (Regent Choral Artists) made their Lincoln Center debut on February 18, 2019. They performed Frank Wildhorn’s “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” The Regent Choral Artists were part of a 200-strong chorus from around the world supporting an all-star Broadway cast accompanied by the New York Chamber Orchestra.
